It could be different people reviewed our apps and they moved at different paces.Blumpbeef wrote:JamMasterJ wrote:Why did you think some of you guys that have been complete forever just now got WLd when others of us got WLd a couple weeks ago? I can't see any rhyme or reason. Both groups wld people with both borderline numbers and great numbers.

My guess is that we were just in a different 'pile' from those apps. Maybe this group had slightly worse stats and they wanted to see who would withdraw from the WL from the first group before offering spaces to our group? Who can say, really.eaper wrote:It could be different people reviewed our apps and they moved at different paces.Blumpbeef wrote:JamMasterJ wrote:Why did you think some of you guys that have been complete forever just now got WLd when others of us got WLd a couple weeks ago? Ha no. I understand that top schools get thousands of applicants and are quite busy, but I gotta question how someone like Tiago can be complete for over half a year (!) and then get waitlisted. I realize that schools don't owe us a whole lot during this process, but I think an answer within 6 months is fairly reasonable.sandiego222 wrote:bobbyh1919 wrote:WL as well. 169/3.95 applied back in early November. Was having a great cycle so pretty surprised/upset with the decision to be honest. Originally had Mich as a serious contender but I personally have been pretty frustrated with their admissions process and will be withdrawing. Best of luck
to everyone else.
They let you sit in on their committee and witness the "process" ??
I am admittedly bitter about getting WL'd. Most applicants with my numbers were getting between 18-22K/year in scholarship money, so I was pretty surprised. I would like to know what red flag they saw in my application that Penn, UVA, and Duke didn't have a problem with, but I obviously won't find that out.
Still have tremendous respect for Dean Z and her staff and am certainly not questioning their decision. Going to withdraw and go in another direction, but still plan to bleed maize and blue next football season

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I understand your frustration, and I remember how hard applications can be when all you hear is "numbers are all that matter unless you're URM" and then find out that you can have the same numbers, URM status, application date, etc. as someone, and have completely different outcomes. But that's the way these things work. It doesn't mean you had a red flag in your application. It's that when someone has numbers in the MVPB range, or the CCN range, or the DCNG range, there's always a caveat of: your numbers are good, therefore you will most likely get at least one of your desired schools, hopefully more. But it's never guaranteed that you'll get all of them. People with good numbers always want admissions to be about only that, people with poor numbers want it to be based only on soft factors, splitters like to hide in the knowledge that at least one school will bite, but the truth is that admissions are never as cut and dry as anyone wants them to be. I'm sorry things didn't work out with Michigan, but your comment above acknowledges that your application wasn't lacking since you got into 3 great peer schools. Personally, I got shut out of Penn. I never held it against them. I wasn't what they were looking for. And in fact I'm sure I could find people on LSN with my exact numbers that aren't URM getting into places from Columbia down to Cornell, but it would be useless to get upset or bitter about it. I hope that you enjoy whichever school you end up with without wondering what if?bobbyh1919 wrote: Ha no. The bitterness was mostly from being complete for over 4 months with basically just one e-mail from them that only served to turn everyone on this board into a hot mess lol. Bitter wasn't the right word though, just frustrated.descartesb4thehorse wrote:I understand your frustration, and I remember how hard applications can be when all you hear is "numbers are all that matter unless you're URM" and then find out that you can have the same numbers, URM status, application date, etc. as someone, and have completely different outcomes. Just got a ding update - decision letter was sent (I think that they could have saved some paper and sent me email instead). Kind of relieved and upset at the same time. This complete status was so exhausting

Waitlisted via status checker. Kind of surprised it wasn't an outright ding. I don't know what I'm going to do with my extra minute per day now that I don't have to compulsively check my status. Good luck to everyone else!

Sorry if these questions have already been asked.
Is anyone else seeing constant updates on their "Complete" status? Does this mean that each time it updates they've looked at your file again, or is it just the system updating itself to show it's the most recent status of your application?
Best of luck to everyone on your applications & decisions!

It updates every day. Doesn't have any significance. Good luck!Miss_Sunshine wrote:Sorry if these questions have already been asked.

Has anyone gotten in off the WL yet? Last year, the first WL/Accept on LSN was late February.

This bothers me so much. It's almost worse than the schools that don't update, ever. Just give me a damn decision already!Geneva wrote:It updates every day. Doesn't have any significance. Good luck!Miss_Sunshine wrote:Sorry if these questions have already been asked.

Nah... they vary based on decision date and also summer vs. fall start. Mine was April 12th.Crowing wrote:Isn't Mich's 1st deposit deadline April 30th? EDIT: Mine was April 12th even though I was initially a fall start. I think some people that got accepted early and were summer starters had a deadline this past week but I'm not 100% sure.
