gotcha. thanks for the info!roguey wrote:Monday I was told that we will be receiving information about a housing fair the school will host in June. I can't remember the dates, but there will be a lot of landlords there. There are a TON of apartments around campus, and I think landlords get scared in May when 1/4 of the students move out and there's no one to rent to until August. I've seen a few places say "first month free with 13 month lease" and when I called they said that was a special for anyone who moved in before the end of July, lol. No one seems to rent between May and July, so landlords seem to be frantic to get someone in during those months. Once June & July roll around, I think they will be a little easier to deal with... I hope.nick637 wrote:FWIW, my bro went to UG at John Carroll and said to find an apartment EAST of Case (Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, University Heights) and to stay away from Cleveland, Euclid and anything west of the school.
I have been looking at Craigslist for apartments but am stuck because no landlord will secure a lease this far in advance. Is this a problem that many of you are facing? Should I just wait until a month or two before Im ready to move to Cleveland?

Just rec'd my acceptance letter with scholarship today. I don't know why these schools don't read their emails (same thing happened with Hofstra). I withdrew my application 2 weeks ago. Anyway, I won't be attending so I hope whomever gets this $$.

Did you guys send in your scholarship acceptance form prior to asking for the increase, or did you wait until they upped the offer?

Talk to Elaine B. Greaves. Also, no, I did not send in the form before getting my increase.roguey wrote:Who did you talk to? I'm trying to figure out who I need to send flowersnick637 wrote:case just upped my scholly by 4500. ill be attending in the fall.

Re: Case Western 2010
I requested an increase and was turned down, but I have a pretty large scholarship already. Can't say I blame them very much. I was hoping they'd just make it an utter no-brainer for me so I could commit, but I don't know.
It's a tough call. I'd more or less chosen Case over Ohio State, but I have some other issues to confront. Namely, this wasn't an ideal application cycle for me. I applied only to schools I was sure I liked and hoped for big money, because I'm gonna be broke. I have other educational plans beyond/concurrent with the JD, which makes this an extra agonizing process. I may go ahead and accept a non-JD offer and re-enter the JD pool two years from now, much better equipped and aware of what my options are, including realistic 'reach' schools that I didn't even try for this time around. After my other degree is done, the period of time I'll have to deal with JD loans will be much shorter, so I won't have to gnash my teeth pleading for a full ride anywhere. Plus, I'll be more certain of the market I want to practice in.
Still, having done lots of reading and talking to people about Case, I remain impressed with the school. You guys who are going there won't be disappointed.

has anyone sent back their scholarship sheet? If so how long did it take them for them to update it on your admitted students page?

Re: Case Western 2010
I can't wait to put in my deposit, honestly. I am so excited to attend Case. I kinda can't contain myself from talking about Cleveland. I think it has to do with moving to Cleveland being the first time in 20 years I've lived outside the South (if you don't count 6 months in Spain and 3 weeks in Arizona). Also, I'm super excited about studying immigration law from the president-elect of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Also, the founder/owner of the largest immigration firm in the world went to Case and hires almost exclusively from Case. So that means that if I can't afford to go straight into public interest law, I may be able to work for a few years doing business immigration to get my student loans paid down.

Is it ok if I put my deposit in the mail today? Or should I overnight the check? I live about four hours from the school

I'd assume being postmarked before the 15th is what they want. But, if you are supper worried, i guess overnight it.nick637 wrote:Is it ok if I put my deposit in the mail today? Or should I overnight the check? I live about four hours from the school

I sent in my scholly acceptance via priority mail... but USPS says it is still at a pickup-point. Anyone else have this same thing? I sent it last week Monday and the status has not changed. I cannot see that to be true.roguey wrote:Well... just put in the first choice "binding" deposit. Why am I still so nervous? lol.

Since I'm commitment phobic, I was wondering: the deposits all go towards tuition right? I figured I don't mind paying the extra deposits if I'd wind up putting that money towards tuition anyway. But, if it is money separate from that, maybe I should do the binding deposit and save myself some cash.

so yeah they go towards your tuition, I also decided to go with the 1st/2nd deposit path just in case I get something too good to turn down from now til school starts. All deposits are non-refundable and will be deducted from the first semester's tuition or will be applied to any outstanding mandatory fees. To accept the offer of admission for the Fall 2010 entering class, admitted students are required to submit a seat deposit. The deposit options and deadlines are described below.

In that case, I think I'll do the same. I also now feel retarded for sending admissions an e-mail asking that question.vijemi wrote:charlesjd wrote:I am pretty sure deposits do not go towards tuition.snowpeach06 wrote:Since I'm commitment phobic, I was wondering: the deposits all go towards tuition right? Don't you wish there was a way to take back an e-mail? God, whoever invents that will get rich.vijemi wrote:Don't worry I called to ask for the physical address when its so clearly on the bottom of every Case webpage.snowpeach06 wrote:In that case, I think I'll do the same.
