I don't think Alum interviews are tightly controlled. My interviewer didn't have any questions prepped. He looked over my resume and asked a bit about the work I do. We talked about why law and why vandy, and I asked him a bunch of questions about the Nashville area.Employstats1 wrote:I guess. Very casual - which I personally enjoyed.

Thanks! Do you think there would be a difference if the interviewer was someone in admissions and not an alum?jessmeesh wrote:I don't think Alum interviews are tightly controlled. No idea. I had an alum interview, so I cant speak about anything else. Though my gut tells me that an AdComm would be more likely to stick to a script.Employstats1 wrote:Thanks! Definitely be ready to answer why law and why vandy. Anything else I would imagine would be standard job interview questions.

Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
What is the etiquette for asking about a decision timeline? A lot of schools I applied to said they wouldn't provide any decision information over the phone, but I didn't see anything about that on Vandy's website. Maybe I'm just letting the wait get the best of me at this point, but being from the South Vandy is definitely a top choice for me. The nerves are real.2000andBeyond wrote:Yeah, this is definitely my 11th week.......jstans wrote:Considering giving them a call just to politely ask if we should hear soon. I haven't seen a wave of decisions since around this time last week, so I'm tempted to hold off to see if I may be in the next wave which *should* come this week.cam1992 wrote:raeofsunshine wrote:jstans wrote:In the same boat. Me too, interviewed and complete since 11/11. It says that applicants will usually receive a decision with 8-12 weeks and that once the interview is over the application will be expedited. Clearly this has not been the case... has anyone talked to admissions? Are we supposed to hear back soon?

Calling them won't help they won't be like "oh geez I guess we really should get around to making decisions!"
Maybe call and ask about submitting some kind of continuing interest thing or whatever but fretting about calling them is completely unproductive

Another day, another night of wistfully exing out of my inbox without having heard from vandy.

Yeah I'm definitely having a hard time waiting. Been complete since 11/28 and interviewed a couple days later. Applied to BU, USC, and WUSTL at the same time and have heard nothing since. Maybe it's because I'm a reverse splitter? They want to accept all those higher LSATs before considering me :/

FWIW, it seems like BU and WUSTL are dragging their feet overall. I'm waiting on them both as well, with radio silence since I submitted (though it hasn't been a ridiculously long time.) Waiting game is the worst. Especially since I got into matches/safeties quite quickly and so the wait for my top picks seems especially long.bballdude47 wrote:Yeah I'm definitely having a hard time waiting. Typically interviews are done with alumni, and you have to sign up before December 1 if you want one. I think they are doing some extra/one-offs now, but it's not their SOPcharles117 wrote:does everybody get interview invites or only first come first serve? I applied mid January so kind of late

I really hope Vandy pulls through with some acceptance letters this week.

Re: Vanderbilt Law School c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Did some digging in last year's thread, and a fair amount of people heard back at the beginning of March who had applied any time from November on. That's also the time when it looked like they sent out a pretty good amount of scholarships to people already accepted. In other words, it looks like March might be a big month for us all, waiters and those accepted alike.

Thanks so much! Yes, it's my top choice and will continue to be so unless they mistakenly sent me an acceptance letter or give me absolutely nothing in terms of scholarship!Gitaroo_Dude wrote:Congrats! is this your top choice at the moment?Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:IN VIA EMAIL!!! Hm, I'm a reverse splitter who applied in November and was accepted to Vandy, USC, BU, and WUSTL quite a bit ago, especially vandy and WUSTL.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
