Still waiting on UCLA, full rides to a couple SoCal schools but nothing comparable to USC (Loyola, USD, etc), and I've been accepted to Vandy but no word on scholarship info. Still waiting to hear back for a couple more schools about $$$ but just wanted to see if anyone had success negotiating with USC at all.Rigo wrote:UCLA acceptance and offer?lawpotato wrote:Anyone have any advice about scholarship negotiations for USC? I got a pretty decent scholarship but would love to bump it up a little more.
Any other top 20 or 25ish scholarships?
Any SoCal full rides?
You just have to make them see you have better options so they incentivize you.

Re: USC c/o 2020 Applicants Thread (2016-2017)
Anybody know if it's possible to get full tuition scholarships besides the Rothman? I got the $157,500 scholarship and would only really consider going to USC if it was on a full ride. I have a few T14 acceptances, but no money at any of them yet, and didn't apply to any peer schools or CA schools besides Berkeley. Not sure how to go about negotiating or if they will even negotiate with $157,500 already on the table. Applied for Rothman but haven't heard back and I'm not optimistic because I'm a KJD who expressed a heavy interest in Public Service in all of my application materials.

Do we know if those people who submit a Rothman application usually are in review a few extra weeks? I've been in review since the beginning of January, and my numbers are pretty solid for USC

(213) area code just now. I picked up and it was a telemarketer. I just hung up without saying anything and blocked number. Fuck you Patrick from The National Insurance Foundation for making me think you were USC.

If you don't mind, could you share when you applied/went under review? I know it hasn't been that long, but it seems like people have had faster turnaround times with my numberstheboringest wrote:I applied for a Rothman and was admitted/given scholarship info already.imtca wrote:Do we know if those people who submit a Rothman application usually are in review a few extra weeks? I have similarish numbers, so that's disappointing to hear. Maybe they're having a strong cycle this year.Gitaroo_Dude wrote:168/3.4. We'll have to wait for newer data to full reflect December LSAT, but I say it's doubtful. Look at that 165 plummet.Greenteachurro wrote: I have similarish numbers, so that's disappointing to hear. Maybe they're having a strong cycle this year.

I wonder if schools in the 20-30 range are going to get better applicants GPA wise. It looks like the 164-169 range saw a bit of a dip and those are the ranges of LSAT scores that would probably apply to those schools.Rigo wrote:We'll have to wait for newer data to full reflect December LSAT, but I say it's doubtful. I applied 1/7 with good numbers. For Rothman too! Am complete for eons. Don't even know if it's called "under review" or "in review" here at sc. Above 75 LSAT too.imtca wrote:If you don't mind, could you share when you applied/went under review? Very disappointed with my scholly offer :/ how much more can I expect to get from negotiations? Is it pretty much solely dependent on the offers I get from other schools?

Any USC-specific scholarship negotiation advice? I'm going to email them with my other offers and all that but I was wondering if there might be any tips that have been known to yield success at USC. Thanks!lakers3 wrote:Congrats to everyone that has been getting in! I'm a 1L currently so if anyone has any questions about the school I'm happy to try and answer. I don't really know of anything specific. The only suggestion I have is to point out the COA and not just the scholarship number. A similar scholarship at a school like UT is going to go further than at USC because of COA, and its never bad to point that out to them. I also know of people that have been successful without UCLA offers, so don't feel like thats the only offer that will worklawpotato wrote:Any USC-specific scholarship negotiation advice? I'm really happy with my choice. The culture is good, everyone works hard but its not cut throat or anything like that. Even after 1st semester grades came out, everyone is pretty cool to one another.Rigo wrote:How do you like it? Wish you did things differently? How's the culture? I have noticed that a lot of people are right from undergrad or close to it, and I think the median age of my class was 23. It has never bothered me, but that is something to keep in my mind for better or worse.
I've been really impressed with the resources of the school. The career services office, professors, and other support systems are really responsive and extremely helpful. I don't know how other law schools are, but I definitely think that is a pro of the school.
Overall I am really happy with my choice and I think it is a great outcome if the price is right and you are pretty sure you want to stay in CA
