Mine was really pleasant. I did a skype interview though. Worst part about it was one of our connections was weak and we kept getting disconnected.

Geez, having to reconnect halfway through an interview is near the top of my list of biggest interview fears, just below "power cut 5 mins before the interview".

I couldn't schedule a Skype one around my work schedule so I did the online recorded one. They're always so disjointed. I will say props to NU for recording a person asking each question, I want to say two years ago Cornell just put the question on screen

Lol it happened at least three times but it wasn't too bad. It was just awkward because she'd freeze up while I was talking so I wouldn't know whether or not she could still hear me

I have a silly question regarding the letter of continued interest. Should I simply convert the word document to PDF or should I print, sign it and scan it as a PDF? Has anyone sent in theirs yet?

I just converted it, but haven't sent it yet. Gonna send after their office opens back up.

I haven't sent any LOCIs yet, but what I do for all my letters is convert to PDF and then use a digital signature

I printed, signed, and scanned. Just the way I'm used to doing things I suppose. Personally I think it looks better, but I'm sure it has no appreciable difference.

What do you guys mean? I simply filled out the online form asking if I wanted to continue to be considered. Should I be doing something else as well?

Pretty sure there referring to a 'letter of continued interest'. Something you write and email to adcomms separately to express more interest than simply just filling out the form.
Ah, ok. I would hope my interest is apparent by the fact that I applied ED.

Were you waitlisted? (Just to make sure we're on the same page.) If so and NW is your first choice, I would really consider taking the time to write a LOCI. I think people underestimate the influence a strong LOCI can have. Just my opinion though.
My understanding is that just about everybody who went ED and was not accepted is now "Held". This means that a decision has yet to be made, which is different from "Waitlist".I do wonder if a LOCI is necessary in this scenario, since I'm in the same situation as jjcorvino.

Oh, that is interesting. I'm really not sure about that one. Maybe some other folks can chime in.
Yeah, I was "Held" as well. I figured the LOCI was only if you get waitlisted.

Something to consider is that if you are released from the ED obligation (which is all of us whose applications were HELD), you are free to apply ED to other schools now. Not that there are many left with that option at this point. But by submitting a LOCI (and NU is still your #1) it shows the admissions committee that you will 100% attend if offered admission. This helps with their numbers game as they need to consider how many will actually matriculate from the acceptance letters they send out. It won't hurt if you don't submit one, but it could help if you do. To me, that's a no-brainer for submitting one.

If I send my LOCI, but don't receive the automated response that confirms receipt, what should I do?
The answer is probably "chill out" but I need confirmation.

I didn't receive a confirmation either. But that's probably because I submitted it during the December break. I did get an automated reply that they were closed between 22nd December and 3rd January though.

I didn't get the automated reply that's usually sent after you send something to NW.
Whatever, I'll just hope.

I received an email from the admissions office confirming they received my LOCI and have added it to my file. I emailed the letter to the admissions office on December 28th and received a response the same day from the Senior Associate Director of Admissions and Financial Aid.

I am guessing there will be a wave early next week. Deadline for filing for continued consideration after being held from ED is 1/9. I would think that the second round of decisions for ED applicants is fairly easy and would come out soon after.

One can only hope, but it seems logical that they would have already reviewed all the ED applications enough to make a few decisions. The rub is that they need to compare the ED drop-outs to the pool of RD applicants which should be spiking right about now.
