I had 3 typos in my application, and my professors had a few in my recommendation letters as well. I still got in (this cycle). Needless to say, they do evaluate you holistically.
Thanks a lot. You are awesome. I discovered one in my app after submission and that's been bugging me ever since. Now I know I won't be rejected because of that. And if I am, I won't think I was. YLS is a huge reach anyway.

Wow. they're reading Jan files already. You may be one of those mythical "presumptive admits"!

Haha. it's not a myth. Asha has referred to that in her blog!

There's 115 members right now. Seven are from within the last 8 hours, but there's also a couple members from Monday and one from Tuesday. Unclear to me if that's when they accepted the invite - it says that's when they were added by Craig from admissions. Hope this helps (:
Thanks! Do you also have the total that includes the number of people who are "invited" but haven't yet joined?

It's up to 123 and 40 invites as of this morning. Seems like this weekend was a relatively bigger wave

Discounting the deferments and a few admins, that gets us where? Half-way? Probably a little over 50%?

Earlier in the thread, someone said to subtract 20 from the total for current students/deferrals/staff...so this puts us roughly at 143/~260 new admits (259 new offers were given last year).

Does anyone know how to go about predicting one's need-based aid? Or at least what the financial burden of someone who gets the max need-based aid from YLS would be? I'm very confident that I'd qualify for any aid they give since my family has essentially no money at all, I just don't know what that would translate into as far as my anticipated debt burden

Yes! She called yesterday which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. I basically did a double-take on the phone because I didn't quiet hear her name at first and then she mentioned "new dean" and I was like wait, of course I know who you are! haha

From the website: "In 2017-2018, students are expected, depending on the class year, to meet the first $44,700, $45,700 or $46,700 of their need with loans. Students whose total need is less than this amount will normally receive only loan assistance. Students whose need exceeds this amount will receive grants."

If I'm reading this correctly, then, a person who gets max aid and finances the rest on loans would need to take out about $137,000 in loans over the course of three years.

Hey broseph. I looked at MyLSN a bit back, and Jan applicants (like us...) heard back in Apr 65% of the time. 26% chance in March. 9% in Feb.
I'm a Feb applicant

OP hurr, returning from a long slumber.

Congrats to all the admits!!!!!!!!!!!

And a friendly nudge that one of you lovely humans should make a Yale thread in the class of 2020 forum to discuss post-acceptance/fin-aid stuff. If one hasn't already been made.

Also SweetTort, as per usual there's not much of a use for guessing about how soon a decision can come, but I think LSN/MyLSN will give you better info on that.

Just wondering since you withdrew months ago. If by "hear back" you mean right after applying, then there's little to no pattern with Y. There was a massive acceptance wave recently so you should expect another perhaps mid to late March at the earliest, but I believe that's also when they start denying. If you mean "hear back" after being accepted regarding financial aid, then it's 3-4 weeks after you finish your FAAST (earliest being at the beginning of March).
Ugh, I really hope we don't have to wait until mid to late March for another wave! At least last year (which does seem markedly different from this year), it seems like decisions came more frequently than that. Also, I thought the wave on 2/25 only showed 23 new members/invitations to the FB group? Does that count as a massive wave for Yale? Probably so, I guess, since that would constitute ~9% of their offers in a given cycle.

Was there a tweet for the 2/25 wave or no? And is it email rather than call?

Thanks, this is actually helpful. I think I remember reading that too (and something similar from HLS, except for them it was $48k minimum in loans per year) but didn't know if it was that simple
