I did not get that message, so it must be a higher-tier. I also got that my scholarship is dependent on 'good academic standing,' which is annoying. I emailed (basically to open negotiation) but if they don't play ball, I may begin the withdrawing in the next couple weeks. I know how much WLs suck, and I'll try not to waste too many resources.fliptrip wrote:Got this too.QuentonCassidy wrote:Those who received scholarship: did your message include something about your "credentials placed you in competition to be considered for additional awards, including our endowed full-tuition scholarships"? Ha, I was the same way. Fortunately I let the call go to voicemail so I could replay it and check my sanity. My emails trickled in over the course of a few days. Expect like one per day on different topics and then eventually a congratulations email from Dean Farnsworth. Congratulations!

"Good academic standing" just basically means that you can't fail out. It is not a GPA cutoff or anything. I had the same thing in my scholarship letter. If you emailed to try and negotiate that out, I'm pretty much certain they are going to balk. Don't bail for that though!James.K.Polk wrote:I did not get that message, so it must be a higher-tier. I got the same thing. Called the office--they said that they would talk to the dean and get back to me tomorrow.fliptrip wrote:Got this too.QuentonCassidy wrote:Those who received scholarship: did your message include something about your "credentials placed you in competition to be considered for additional awards, including our endowed full-tuition scholarships"? I was surprised at how low the offer was as well, which makes me think that they're not done yet.

Are you serious? Good academic standing is a 1.90. Now that may sound high, but a D is a 1.7 and an F is a 1.3... so in a 15 hour semester, you could get a B, a C, two Ds, and an F and still be in good academic standing (1.94). And that's all on a B+ curve.James.K.Polk wrote: I did not get that message, so it must be a higher-tier. I also got that my scholarship is dependent on 'good academic standing,' which is annoying. I don't know of a law school that lets you keep money if you're not in good academic standing. It's not even considered a stipulation by the ABA.

Congrats! Were you asked to submit a why Texas or did you send it unsolicited?

Gotcha - I didn't know if it meant GPA stipulation or just general "don't drop out." Regardless, I think the current scholarship isn't worth it, as it stands, relative to my other options.BVest wrote:Are you serious? Good academic standing is a 1.90. I was accepted back on 1/7 and received my scholarship offer today and i felt it was a pretty good one. I might try to negotiate for higher if such an offer comes along but I am really liking Texas

Still haven't heard from Texas! OOS, GPA around 50th, LSAT greater than 75th and I included a Why Texas with my original application...
Went complete on 12/9. I wonder what the hold up is!

Their office called me back. They're not giving away big scholarships yet, as they haven't let in a ton of people, so they don't necessarily know what the pool is going to look like. But if you got that message, I'm pretty sure you're still in the running.fliptrip wrote:Got this too.QuentonCassidy wrote:Those who received scholarship: did your message include something about your "credentials placed you in competition to be considered for additional awards, including our endowed full-tuition scholarships"? Anyone know any information on the Equal Justice Scholarship, in terms of if they are looking for people with high stats or super softs?

Dean Riley told me when he called to admit me that I should expect scholarship offers in two weeks. That was last Wednesday, so I would think people should start hearing things soon.

Also, I just checked out the admitted students weekend page. Does anyone know if there is travel reimbursement? Austin is a lot further away than I initially thought and I cant swing a plane ticket and hotel for a few days.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
