Now that everything is pretty much over, what are your thoughts on Stanford Law?

Umm, it's the best fucking school in the entire goddamned world. I will be there this fall and am personally just grateful that I get to post in the C/O 2019 thread, where we actually have a real OP in fliptrip. Eat caca and die, Dcc617. Your parents hate you.

It's chill bro, but I was already set on Harvard or Yale anyway. I got my shades on to block out all that shade from CA. Enjoy the earthquakes, hippies.

I personally can't stand Stanford, its administration, and especially its admissions office. I waited patiently for 4-7 months only to get waitlisted or rejected less than a week before May. Seriously, go home Stanford, you're drunk (unless you accept me off the waitlist, then I will love you)

Meh, I mean, this was a total long shot for me. I just wanted to see what would happen. This is what I thought would happen.

I'm totally indifferent to Stanford, because I am super happy with the option I am going with. Grow up, Dcc617. You're embarrassing yourself with this poll.

I will be Seymour Asses from Futurama, and Stanford is my Fry. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? I WILL FUCKING DIE ON THE WAITLIST!

I am a lurker. I may not have even applied anywhere this cycle. My motives for lurking this thread are entirely inscrutable and apparently I have nothing better to do with my life.

Dcc617, stop making every other poll option about yourself. While you are very handsome, your constant narcissism and self-indulgence has become off-putting.

Hey, can I ask if people who sent LOCI's already have received responses acknowledging their letter was received? I never got any response, fairly certain they got it but I'd like to be sure.

I just submitted one within the last week or so, it took admissions a couple of days to respond.

I was lucky enough to get a response within a few hours. Your mileage may vary.

Status checker still says application under review. Went complete mid-October, submitted a LOCI two weeks ago because I hadn't received any news since. Admissions office replied to my email saying they received the LOCI, ding mail is dated a few days after that.

Didn't expect much but a little surprised at the sudden ding. :(
I'm sorry. :(

That's pretty awful; I thought we at least could expect a DLS before a ding.

Am I right in that per yesterday's instagram post it seems like Dean Deal is reading files in Hawaii? That gives me a little hope, despite the silence over the past couple days.

DLS today. Guessing it's too early for WLs, but will keep on the look out for the letter. Good luck to everyone else!

Has anyone been waitlisted yet? Or is it safe to assume DLS means ding?

I am also in the 'dodged DLS' camp, though I'm not holding out hope. I built a model to predict results based on LSAT, GPA and other school's decisions (to approximate softs) and it predicts that I will eventually get dinged :(

lol, what is this model?

Robb from myLSN gave me the data to mess around with, and I looked at a few machine learning models based on the results from the past few cycles. I eventually decided on building a random forest model to classify the instances. It's not a super accurate model (Stanford and Yale are particularly hard to predict), but it is better than just looking GPA and LSAT.

I also built a rule based model that is pretty human readable (it is not as accurate as the random forest, but still better than just gpa/lsat):
  • (harvard = Accept) and (yale = Accept) => stanford=Accept (CF = 0.71)
  • (harvard = Accept) and (gpa > 3.83) and (columbia = Accept) and (lsat > 176) => stanford=Accept (CF = 0.62)
  • (nyu = Accept) and (gpa in > 3.86) and (harvard = WL) => stanford=WL (CF = 0.64)
  • (harvard = Ding) => stanford=Ding (CF = 0.92)
  • (gpa < 3.8 ) => stanford=stanford-Ding (CF = 0.89)
  • (lsat in < 167) => stanford=Ding (CF = 0.88)
  • (lsat in < 173) and (berkeley = Ding) => stanford=Ding (CF = 0.91)
  • (lsat in < 173) and (columbia = Ding) => stanford=Ding (CF = 0.91)
  • (chicago = Ding) => stanford=Ding (CF = 0.94)
CF is confidence factor for the rule

Tbh, I'd be pretty happy with a waitlist haha

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
