I just want to give a heads up to the thread that I am clearing out my user history and so for a brief moment, this thread will show as post removed. However, I have copy and pasted the OP into a word document and I will fix it right away.

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I was first wave as well. Thought the interview went well, but of course in the days after, I realized I had much better answers for some of the questions. I briefly started to, but never quite finished, analyzing previous spreadsheets from 14-15 and 13-14 to see trends among the first waves of JS1's.curious bobcat wrote:Well, I actually asked bc I received a JS1 in the first wave (Oct 20). I don't think I screwed up my interview but I definitely didn't do anything impressive either. I guess I am just pandering for reassurance that the odds are strong as I continue this long wait until the new year.oliverotis wrote: it's unlikely there's much of a correlation between wave # and acceptance rate if you're talking about Oct 20 vs. Nov 5, but once you start looking later in the cycle, there's likely to be a stronger correlation. They offer JS1s off the WL, and more of those JS1s will be on the bubble, so fewer will be admitted.
Anyway, if you just got your JS1, don't worry that you didn't get it in October, you're in great shape.
However, I am unsure as to whether this year they are adopting a different approach with a rise in applicants and the trend toward moving back times on JS2's.

Is the general consensus that HLS is not getting back to anyone before January?

I'd assume it depends on the work. But relevant or good work experience could always benefit an app.dreamerchic19 wrote:How much can work experience help?

I think conventional wisdom is that it helps on the margins, but won't make up for low numbers.dreamerchic19 wrote:How much can work experience help?

No new slots showing yet! There are a couple of open spots still remaining at the end of this week from the last wave. Guessing that the next interview dates will be the week after tgiving though (partially just being pragmatic, partially like to fantasize that they'll be spending tgiving week doing JS2stheugg wrote:happy j1 day!

Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
From what I recall, only one JS1 was specifically told "after the new year", right? My interviewer said that it could be awhile and not to panic but that they hope to get back to me "sooner rather than later". I'm still entertaining the idea that maybe they just want to stress that their JS1 to JS2 turnaround time isn't as fast as some schools (UVA) and reduce panic? That might be me just desperately attempting to will and rationalize a pre-thanksgiving JS2 though. The insanity will only increase from here

Okay, not "expecting" anything, but still hoping. Earlier JS1s could still have a shot of hearing back sooner... maybe..tflan19 wrote:Darn... it was a nice (and over-optimistic) theorygrgregregre wrote:Just finished my JS1 and was told not to expect anything before the New Yeartflan19 wrote:From what I recall, only one JS1 was specifically told "after the new year", right?
