Curious as to those who both have received post WL JS1s and those who have yet to receive a JS1, did you submit of LOCI?

I sent a LOCI but haven't received a JS1 yet. My status hasn't changed since 3/31. Also had two Harvard professors I'd worked with closely send additional letters of rec, which I'm now thinking was overkill. (I chatted with a graduating 3L who got in off the waitlist and she said letters could help, but since then I've heard other people say they don't.)

In their email to us all regarding the waitlist, Harvard said that "additional recommendation letters are rarely helpful at this time." However, I also submitted an additional letter, as I am in the sort of position where I am likely just on the outside looking in without adding a little something extra, and I decided the chance of it slightly hurting my application was worth taking. I would note, though, that my letter was not just a standard rec from a college professor or employer (as neither were yours), but a letter from a V5 hiring partner and Harvard Law grad, who I have closely worked with. Otherwise, I likely would not have bothered.

Yeah, if people don't hear from them today I'd bet on next week.

I sent a LOCI the other day. I feel like if you really want to go and something has changed in your app then to send one is a no brainer. I just didn't want to get denied and think the whole time "damn, what if I woulda sent a loci?"

Sorry I got a bit mixed up, meant to ask: when did the consensus become JS2s next week instead of in two weeks? Don't the post-WL JS1s still have to go through faculty review?

I think mack mentioned earlier the first wave of js2s is mostly pre-waitlist js1s, and then the second wave is mostly post-waitlist js1s. the pre-waitlist js1s have already gone through faculty review.

also i'm not sure all our files go through faculty review on the waitlist (although that could be really wrong - not sure)

I don't remember exactly, but basically it is an email where they want you to confirm you will accept if offered.

Last year the "homework" was an email verifying that you would attend HLS if admitted. It WAS sent to those who had a post WL JS1 (as I did). But to my knowledge last year was the first time that the "homework" was requested. Good luck to all of you!

Yeah to clarify I do not doubt they will send it again, I just would be surprised if they did it two days after the interview.

I'm confused by this as well. They mention the 3-6% figure, but then talk about assets that they consider protected. Is it that people with an average distribution of assets could expect to contribute about 3-6% of their total value, or that they would take 3-6% of the value of only 'unprotected' assets? Also not clear if this was per year or for the total 3 years

I read, I think on JS' blog, or the HLS site itself that ALL admitted students go through the faculty review process.

on one hand it says every applicant that is accepted has a faculty member sign off. on the other hand, haven't we already received a 'final decision' in that we're on the WL?

i still think we'll hear back next week based on last years timeline

As much as I'd LIKE what you're saying to be true...if you read the article linked by Mack, it seems that the order is faculty read last
