That's not the impression I was under. If we didn't deposit by April 1, we would have forfeited any scholarship money awarded to us. If that money were forfeited, I don't understand how we would then have been eligible for an increase.Iwanttolawschool wrote:You didn't have to deposit to hear about the scholarship increase, however if you're attending no matter whether you get an increase or not - then all good. I didn't deposit and they told me theyd let me know a few days before April 15th if I get an increase. From a business standpoint, you could make the argument that they have more incentive to increase my request (because im out) than someone who did deposit (because they at least appear to be in)cafecreme15 wrote:^^ I'm currently waiting to hear back. I submitted both my deposit and scholarship increase request by April 1.

Negotiations with GW have been an absolute bear, and I ultimately withdrew last week.
Still I was able to get some info from the financial aid office. PM for details.

I'm in the same boat - was placed on the reconsideration list and still have not heard anything. Would be interested to hear if anyone has received an answer as well.Kaizen428 wrote:Has anyone who didn't receive an initial scholarship and was put on the reconsideration list (hear back by April 13) hear anything yet?

so will the reconsideration decisions be handled in the same manner as the first merit scholarship considerations? Like we will only be notified if we do receive a scholarship but we wont be notified otherwise

On the list, but I haven't heard anything yet. My email didn't specify the 13th though, it just said the committee would be getting back to me 'as soon as possible'.LFCNY9 wrote:I'm in the same boat - was placed on the reconsideration list and still have not heard anything. I was also placed on the reconsideration list. Just got an email that was polite but direct saying they won't be increasing my scholarship. Somewhat surprised considering I have much better offers. No harm though, withdrew my app. Definitely seems like they're trying to play hardball this cycle. Good luck to those of you who stick with it.

+2. Do you think you're going to send a follow-up to continue negotiations? I received a needs based grant from another school since sending in my first negotiation letter to GW, and was wondering if anyone thought it might be leverage.buckiguy_sucks wrote:I didn't deposit April 1. I don't see why you wouldn't at least try. Personally I will just let this one die, the 20k jump only brought me to 50k total. Unless that number doubles, im not interested in GWmo_brien wrote:+2. Has anyone had any movement from admissions about being accepted or denied? I feel like they have been very busy working on financial aid/scholarships the last week. Hopefully some movement for the kids still waiting!
Also did anyone accepted hear via snail mail before they did online? Just curious if I should be chasing the mailman!
Good luck everyone!

Did anyone on the scholarship reconsideration list hear back today (Monday 04/13) versus Friday (04/10)? Even if it was saying that you weren't getting an increase.

When that happened to me, I was waitlisted. I am staying on the waitlist, but am happy with the school I plan to attend if I do not get in or if I get in with no money.

Accepted via email today! Does scholarship information come in the email generally or would it come in the mail?

Very sad to say I am withdrawing today. I was just offered a huge scholarship bump elsewhere.
Good luck to all still waiting!

Does anyone know anything about withdrawing once a deposit has already been submitted? I can't seem to find anything about it on their website.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
