Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
It is interesting that there seems to be very little patterns as concerns LSAT/GPA or complete dates when looking at LSN.
This to me implies one of the following:
1.) They have a giant stack of letters which were planned to all go out on the same day that they are just working through (possibly in alphabetical or some other essentially random order)
2.) Different admissions officers just work through their stack at vastly different rates, so the later dates are all from one worker or something
3.) Columbia puts a lot more value on softs than previously believed.

Okay, so of the 18 acceptances reported so far, 5 said they interviewed and 11 said they did not (and 2 didn't indicate either way). Of the five that interviewed, 2 interviewed during the first week of January (1/5 - 1/9) and 3 interviewed during the second week (1/12 - 1/16).

In! No interview, complete either late Nov or early Dec, between 25 and 50 for both LSAT and GPA but not ED/URM!

Congrats to the admits!!
Anyone else submit a while ago and now hella concerned that Columbia hates you because a bunch of ppl who applied later than you have been accepted? Or is that just me.

late October submitter checking in. I have somehow convinced myself that they just have not gotten to me out of a big stack of accepted piles. managed to not get too upset YET.

I'm sure that's a lot of us. We'll be fine, though! It seems like there's not much rhyme or reason to the order of decisions thusfar.lc39 wrote:Congrats to the admits!!

Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?

Could it be alphabetical?

I remember there was some speculation that many schools, considering the drop in LSAT's would go after high GPAs to offset the potential ranking loss of a LSAT point.tk17 wrote:Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
They have only admitted people without $$$ thusfar so there are (On LSN) no applicants with 3.8+ 176+ because those applicants will get money.tk17 wrote:Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?

That's how I feel about this whole cycle... I applied on sept for all schools except two and out of 11 schools I have heard from 4...

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
That's what I was remembering, and it kinda looks like the early acceptances might support that for Columbia. I might just be hyper-sensitive to this, though, as a traditional splitter.Auxilio wrote:I remember there was some speculation that many schools, considering the drop in LSAT's would go after high GPAs to offset the potential ranking loss of a LSAT point.tk17 wrote:Is it just me or does it seem like the early returns indicate that Columbia is focusing relatively more on GPA than LSAT this year?
