It doesn't seem like there has been any movement on the wait list since very few people got in last week. At this point, things are not looking too good for waitlisted folks this year.

I spoke w/several current students at Fordham who were waitlisted during their cycle, and they were all accepted after the 2nd deposit deadline. I think the bulk of their offers from the waiting list come in the summer. Anyway, good luck to everyone else waiting! The Outsider wrote:Thanks!! Good luck to everyone! Hopefully after all regular decisions are out, they can focus more on the WL

Re: Fordham c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
With very little news coming out of Fordham's Admissions Office for waitlisted applicants, one can only speculate and let the imagination run wild. So, on that topic, I was wondering whether anyone knows how many people are typically placed on a waitlist and for Fordham particularly what percentage of waitlisted applications eventually get accepted. Fordham is opening a new building for the Law department in August. I assume they will be taking in a few more students this year, but that can perhaps mean less applicants off the wait list as well. What do the rest of you think?dsamuels wrote:JurisDoll wrote:Good luck to everyone! Hopefully after all regular decisions are out, they can focus more on the WL

I actually was recently admitted off of the wait list and got my admissions packet yesterday. The letter said that they were expecting an incoming class of 320 students, which I think is about 80 fewer than last year's class. The Outsider wrote:With very little news coming out of Fordham's Admissions Office for waitlisted applicants, one can only speculate and let the imagination run wild. Thanks! It's good to know. It sounds counter-intuitive that with the new building fewer 1L students will be admitted this year. But, of well!!

I don't think it's really that counter-intuitive because of the job prospects in recent years and a desire on Fordhams part to boost it's spot in the rankings. Especially when you look at Biglaw, the most recent stats have 120 students in 500+ attorney size firms out of 481 kids (25%). While a smaller class size will obviously mean it is harder to be in that top 20-25% of the class, if Fordham thinks they can place close to that 120 number with a smaller class, their ranking/rep will skyrocket. Thoughts?

Re: Fordham c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I would agree that it makes sense. Especially since NYC has such a strong Fordham alumni network I'd bet the number of people that actually get hired into big law will stay relatively consistent, so with a smaller class the percentage would go up. Plus in this market, I think schools are kind of morally obligated to shrink their classes. They can talk as much as they want about how they're adapting to the times but the most important way to adapt to a smaller market is to proportionately adjust the number of people you're sending into it.
All that being said, I hope this doesn't reduce all your guys's chances of getting in off the WL (or for anyone still waiting on regular decision)! Fingers crossed for everyone!

Last year they had an incoming class of 321 full-time, and 77 part time. Are you sure that 320 number was referencing the total incoming class?lawskewl13 wrote:

I'm not. That's a good point, it could have just been referring to the full-time.tsoprano wrote:Last year they had an incoming class of 321 full-time, and 77 part time. Are you sure that 320 number was referencing the total incoming class?lawskewl13 wrote:

Re: Fordham c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
No worries. It's not unreasonable to think that the school would want want to boost their ranking by increasing their employment numbers, but I think the declining enrollment numbers are more of a reflection of declining applications. I also don't get the sense that Fordham cares about the rankings all that much. If they did, they'd be much less stingy with scholarships.

Mind posting your stats? Also, are you going to go to Fordham? If I remember your previous posts correctly, BU is your top choice, right?Ngoblue2014 wrote:Got in today off the WL financial info coming
