I imagine they are going to use schollys to get aggressive about LSATs because of their 3 point LSAT drop last year. My guess is they'll start lowish, but they indicated they will negotiate some this year. They'll try to hammer the median back up by bolstering around high 16x people.
All speculation, but they will probably get serious about their median the way WUSTL did last year. Not saying this means throwing gobs of cash like WUSTL, but they will try something.
EDIT: for clarity
Pardon my ignorance, but what was their misstep last year?
When I visited the campus in November, the admissions staff said that they were trying a different approach to scholarships this year and that scholarships would not be offered until March, instead of providing scholarship information in the acceptance letter. Then, last week, they sent out the email saying that they would be sending out scholarship information in the beginning of February – a month earlier than they originally stated. Good news for me, but still, the anticipation is killing me!!

My guess is that they were saying March when you rolled through because your batch of admits won't hear until March. They will probably only cover Oct-early Jan. admits in this early February wave. Hope that's not the case for your sake. But that would be my guess.RollingthruLawSchool wrote:

The misstep was the $25k scholly cap.RollingthruLawSchool wrote:kyle010723 wrote:For what it's worth, they have a new staff of adcomms, brought in outside consultants to revamp the scholarship process. Dropping 3pt on LSAT was just unacceptable. Albeit that we do not need to get in an arms race with WUSTL (that is really the only peer school), not because we cannot afford it (ND cannot afford something? HA), but merely because as a school, that is not our culture (giving out money like candies). That being said, some changes in personnel might change how scholarship is being evaluated this year, that is why it is taking a while, and hopefully that means you guys will get better offers.

So they do send out an email? On the status checker, it says "we do not release decisions by telephone or email." Plus I have no deposit info...does that mean WL/DINGED? aah! Also, I live outside the US now. Hope the email comes soon!!!!SparkyZZZ wrote:Yeah, you should have the acceptance email by the end of the day.

We don't really need to chase WUSTL in numbers. Placement is not going to change much either way.kyle010723 wrote:Dropping 3pt on LSAT was just unacceptable. decided to put the speculation to rest and call the admissions office. The secretary didn't know and asked someone else. It looks like the scholarship process is going to begin in February, but it sounds like closer to the end of February/March is when people will begin to hear. The secretary did mention that there are a lot of new people working on the scholarship committee this year and didn't even seem certain about the end of February/March. I don't think they're coming out today. Basically, no one knows. Anxiously check your email every day, multiple times a dayjk148706 wrote:Nah. Ricky bobby when were you admitted? I'm irrationally hoping it's the timing of the letters now. Reread mine tho. It does say they need extra time in order to give me the 'maximum and most competitive award'. But the context seems to be related to my situation. Not like the most ND can give.

I was admitted back in November, I believe. Are you looking at the admissions email? Because my letter says that about the maximum and most competitive, but the email I got first says the bit about most attractive.yossarian71 wrote:Ricky bobby when were you admitted. Interested in this. Outside of California, where USC and UCLA throw a wrench into things, it seems that really the only schools that operate differently than a regional T1 are WUSTL, ND, and Vandy. I know Vandy is consistently (slightly) higher than WUSTL/ND in both ranking and placement, but it seems to me that they are all peer schools. They are the only non-t14s that have good national-ish placement. For all 3, it seems the national placement is due to their general and lay and prestige drawing people from all over the country and sending them back to their regions. That said, their local regions are also bigger than a typical T1 region.ndirish2010 wrote:We don't really need to chase WUSTL in numbers. I've viewed all three as peer schools during my admissions process. Any reason either one of you (irish or kyle) wouldn't include Vandy as a peer school? To me, it seems as though Vandy is sort of the ND/WUSTL of the South. And, does it matter? Because as irish said, placement probably won't change as a result of minor changes in USNWR for any of these three?
This question is more hypothetical than practical. But, it will matter slightly as all three are strong options for me.

I personally dont have a feeling toward Vandy, it was never a school I looked at. My gut reaction is that Vandy as to the South is ND as to the Midwest. I would consider WUSTL and ND peers in the Midwest (throw in UIUC if you're just talking about Chicago). I debated long and hard between WUSTL and ND, but Vandy was just never on my radar.yossarian71 wrote:Interested in this.
