I had spoken with Dan before, he's extremely friendly.WDH wrote:If it was Nick Wallace, he really is pretty cool. I got a chance to chat with him for a bit last weekend and really got on well with him. Dan Cheng was also very friendly but I didn't get much time to talk with him.Xs20 wrote:That guy was super cool. I thought about asking him about scholarship money but didn't wanna sound tacky or something. Hopefully the letter comes soon.

Did you ask what the scholarship was and he wouldn't tell you? Thinking about calling to ask but I won't if I'm gonna get shot down hahadeuceindc wrote:Just got my phone call. Good to know, thanks. I am below median so I am not expecting much.
Does anyone know when they want their first deposit? I remember reading it somewhere but could not find it again.
Oh, and congrats btw.

Just called to ask about the admitted students login and scholarship info since I won't be home to check my mail for a while. If anyone's impatient like me, your admitted students login is your email address on your application and the password is your LSAC# starting with the L.
Also, they gave me 90k, 166/3.7
ETA: I talked to Dan, he's a really nice guy.

I don't think $750 is very high. It seems to be standard or even a little lower. Sure beats GW's $1500…

In! Voicemail from the dean today. So awesome. My numbers are low to have gotten in off the bat like that, and a scholarship is in the mail.

I asked if the scholarship determination had been made. He quickly deflected by telling me it'd be in the packet, otherwise I would've asked him how much. The way he said it was ambiguous as to whether or not I even got money, so we'll see.Xs20 wrote:Did you ask what the scholarship was and he wouldn't tell you? Yeah, I didn't realize UMN has only one larger deposit instead of two smaller ones like most schools. Just makes it harder to pay with the intention of eating it, which is probably what they're going foralwayssunnyinfl wrote:I don't think $750 is very high. So I whittled out the details of my borrowing need, and have determined that I can absolutely justify attending if I can get my scholarship up to $100-$105k from $84,000
Really hope they come through. Anyone know Minnesota's need based aid history?

There is very little need based aid for law school, to my knowledge.historicrep wrote:So I whittled out the details of my borrowing need, and have determined that I can absolutely justify attending if I can get my scholarship up to $100-$105k from $84,000

It's probably because no one in my family has a positive net worth. Schools do give need based aid, but Minnesota isn't one. They're very generous with merit aid and they don't ask for any parent info, so FAFSA for them is just so you can get grad plus loans.Dream Weave wrote:I find this surprising that's much more than I would have expected from them.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:GWU gave me $16k/year in need based.minnbills wrote:There is very little need based aid for law school, to my knowledge.historicrep wrote:So I whittled out the details of my borrowing need, and have determined that I can absolutely justify attending if I can get my scholarship up to $100-$105k from $84,000
