I'm realistically praying for a waitlist, vandy is my dream school.Volunteer wrote:Hopeful that it looks like most are not rejects just yet.
I live in TX now, but lived in Nashville for 2 years when I was a kid. Some of my family moved back there so it'd be nice to be around them. Nashville is a great city with just a really friendly, chill vibe. In the south, Vanderbilt is viewed as one of the best schools in the country. For example, when I told people that I applied to Cornell, I got a lukewarm reception. When I mentioned Vanderbilt, however, people perked up and got really excited.marbellie wrote:Which of you guys are from out of state and planning to/hoping to attend Vandy? Also, why?
I'm trying to get an idea of what it might be like to go to a place like Nashville and what appeals it may have. The box had highlights and details, but why would you trust salesmen about their own product??

I may count as a salesman because I'm a 2L at Vandy, but if you have any specific questions please PM me and I'll do my best to help! I am from Texas and came to Vandy from out of state.marbellie wrote:Which of you guys are from out of state and planning to/hoping to attend Vandy? Also, why?

That's good to know, I'm originally from the NE, so I would like to go back there when I start adult life, but really I would go anywhere for law school. As long as it is good both socially and academically of courseVolunteer wrote:From Tennessee and Nashville is just a great place (family and friends live there). Neat history, lots of entertainment options and the home of VLS. In Tennessee, it's regarded as a "southern Ivy" of sorts-a place to get a great ed but without the 'tude so to speak of the NE. My cousin is a VLS alum and says her years there were amazing (educationally and otherwise). Any degree from Vandy will get you instant respect in Tennessee and for sure south of Virginia. However, she took hr JD and went big bucks biglaw so good outside the south, too.
I am from Texas too and had the same response. The only other school my friends and family were more excited about me applying to was UT.mg7 wrote:I live in TX now, but lived in Nashville for 2 years when I was a kid. Pray that Vanderbilt thinks it's a fetus. They don't take kindly to abortions down south, especially in the second trimester.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:
