Le Sigh. Another day, another no decisions. I've had a drafted LOCI ready since early last week, and now I guess it'll stretch into next week.
Maybe they just want to accept so many of us they're looking at how to get all us ED applications the money.
I guess we're (ED applicants) pretty much assured to hear back next week?

I am not even sure anymore... if the note at the top of the status check site is accurate (please allow 6-8 weeks from dec 1)... looks like we will be waiting awhile... unless it says that for all applicants and that ED people do indeed hear back by the end of december.

I'm feeling very deflated. After waiting just over a month to get my interview match, I was so excited to finally receive the info last Friday. I emailed my interviewer immediately and have heard nothing back. I'm going to be away for 10 days for the holidays, so unless she replies and squeezes me in with in the next week, we're looking at early January before we meet and I can go complete. :-/
If I emailed one week ago do you think it's ok to follow up today or too pushy?

This interview process is ridiculously cumbersome. Does anyone know how much this delays getting a decision?

I don't think once a week is too pushy. As long as you keep it short with "just following up, looking for a date, etc." Lawyers are used to people being a lot pushier than that.
**edit**
Maybe try on Monday or Tuesday, mid-morning... a Friday afternoon probably won't get you the best results.

I emailed again and she wrote right back this time. Said if I really want to do it next week she could squeeze me in, but she's going on vacation soon and January would be much better. I feel so impatient but will say we should do January, since I know it'd be better to meet her in post-vacation relaxation stage and not be a burden right before her trip that she would surely want to rush through.
Does anyone know if Northwestern reviews complete applications by the submitted date or the complete date? It would seem a little unfair if someone whose interviewer was unresponsive or unavailable ended up going complete and getting reviewed way later than someone who had actually submitted way earlier, right?

The note at the top of the Status Checker is clearly a filler status for everyone, they don't differentiate for ED applications. They don't seem big status-checker updaters compared to other schools.
http://www.law.northwestern.edu/admissi ... ision.html
This site notes the December "deadline" for an answer. It doesn't explicitly state "we will give every ED person a decision in December" however it has to be the implicit reading. After all, according to the site, if you're not accepted in December, you don't get the money, and thus it's not the same ED contract you signed and it can't be binding etc etc.

I asked this during my on-campus interview because I retook in December and she told me by complete date. Sorry :/

I'm so upset. I would have never scheduled that off-campus interview if I knew this.

In 2009, ED acceptances came out on the 22nd. My gut's telling me it'll be either Tuesday or Wednesday that we hear; they seem to have a tendency to release ED acceptances on those days.

Yes, I am one. I was an extreme splitter (sub 2.8, 170) that got in off wait list this year.

This will be the week, yes? As one of my absolute top choices (everything else equal), I need some NU lovin'.

i hope so. i've been in chicago for a few days and i think i've already decided where i want to live. Clearly setting myself up for some epic disappointment as it will be hard to live in the Ukrainian Village while attending georgetown/some other school.

Ukrainian Village is sketchy... You can find better, just maybe not cheaper.

Planes are really fast these days.
But yeah, Chicago is amazing. Seriously hoping for NU to pull through.

eh i really liked it. i assume it gets sketchier the closer you go to humboldt park but honestly right around Damen and Chicago seemed fine for what i want out of a neighborhood. It'd be a straight shot to school and it's basically walking distance to bucktown/wicker park. and on top of it all it seems cheap as hell.

It's sketchier at night but not as bad as some. I really dig Wicker Park but it wouldn't be a super easy trip to NU Law... I would assume most students live in the Streeterville/Gold coast area as it's within walking distance of the campus. I live just outside the loop (a couple blocks north of Union Station) and love having access to all the local and commuter trains as well as the vast majority of buses. If by some grace of chance I get in, I would be able to hop on a bus right outside my building and be at the campus within 10 minutes.
I guess it really depends on what you are looking for though. Did you look north of the campus at Old Town, Lincoln Park, Lakeview/Lakeview East?

i'm actually staying in boystown right now and while i like it alright, i don't think i'd really want to live here/lakeview, especially not for the money. I admittedly have not explored Lincoln Park or Old Town that much but I'd rather be right next to Wicker Park than right next to River North you know? Just a better fit for me personally.
Also i know exactly where you live. How do you not spend all of your money at those nice restaurants on Randolph? I wouldn't be able to help myself.

Hahaha, we do in fact spend quite a bit of money on Randolph. Thankfully, the best restaurants over there require reservations 3-6 months out. Local secret though: You can get into most of them by walking up around 10:30 pm and sitting in the bar area. Most have full menus in the bar and the seats are usually more comfortable.
Also, we hit up Steph Izard's new "Little Goat" this past weekend and it's spot on. Only the bakery/cafe part is open right now so it's mostly sandwiches, loaves of bread, and coffee but it's worth the trip. The diner should be open in next couple weeks and will be a no reservations restaurant. I recommend checking it out if you are in town.

yeah almost went to little goat actually but it was decided against since it's still just the cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed some rye sours at Vivo the other night though. And the mezcal corpse reviver next door at Maude's was legit.

Maude's is where it's at. I really like all of Sodikoff's restaurants. He has a new one on Kinzie called Bevette's Bar and Boeuf and it's my favorite of the bunch. Also, if you have a chance, try to swing by Gage on Michigan. It's one of my favorites in the city.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
