Anyone know if the SIR is a binding commitment? It's top choice now but I am on the waitlist for another 1 or 2 schools.
+1 I'm pretty much in love with the school, but I don't know if I'd choose it over my options if I get off one of my waitlists. I really don't know how I would choose. I'm really hoping it's not binding.

Anyone have any information?

From what I heard, it's not binding. When I did mine, it did say to contact them if any of the information changed. Meaning that if I wasn't going to go, to let them know.

Really glad I visited this weekend. Visiting a few more schools but at this point, I might even take UCI over UCLA. Love the fact that each student gets so much attention.

Even after visiting the law school quite a few times and doing my undergrad at UCI I was very impressed by at least what I saw yesterday (I worked all day today so couldn't make it). Chemerinsky was very personable and confident in where UCI would fall in the rankings in a few years. Students seemed very happy and given the economy well employed for the summer. I do wish that the law school was housed in one building. It would have given it more of a campus feel kinda like King Hall at UC Davis. Not sure why they didn't do that as they have plenty of room on the UCI campus. The facilities are nice on the inside. However, it's clear as the school grows they are definitely going need to more space. I was very impressed with the pro bono work students are doing particularly with the 2L that is helps represent Marines at Camp Pendleton. I would absolutely love to do that if I attend.

All in all I was thoroughly impressed and this has made my UCI vs UC Davis decision even harder. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend!

I registered to go watch Dean Chemerinsky and the Dean of Stanford Law duke it out in a debate on constitutional issues on April 4 (next week) @ UCI. Anyone else thinking of going? Registration was free.

I don't do Facebook either. Literally opened it to get to know more people from the Class of '15. Funny thing, I still didn't get to meet TLSers at ASW. Oh well, at least we'll see each other in August :D

Money concerns aside, the only CA schools you should pick over UCI are Stanford and Berkeley. UCLA and USC will both lose some cache' because of UCI's culture, faculty and approach to legal education. it's just fresh...a fresh new take on preparing students for real-world practice. I'm beginning to believe UCI will make the top-20 when it is finally ranked.

The grades and LSAT's are there, and fairly or not, it's "reputation" ratings may ultimately get a boost from its reputation as a "public Ivy" with top-notch graduate programs. Plus, UCI students aren't having any problems with jobs so far.

I really love Irvine now.

A full ride there is so extremely tempting.

This is making my UCI vs. USC/UCLA decision so much more difficult. Ugh.

For an interesting read, check out their inaugural law review. The first issue focuses on the creation of the law school. --LinkRemoved--. Wish I'd read it earlier in the application season. Love it!

I'm in a similar situation (no full ride at UCI) and am probably going to UCI. PM me if you want to discuss.
