This gives me at least a little hope (163/3.72). Already been admitted to T14 and received $60k from Emory, but I know I'd be happiest at Carolina....yet haven't heard a single thing from them. This wait has is getting unbearable.

Called yesterday because I have a deposit deadline on Sunday the 15th and my application hasn't moved since January 17, Dean States is the one who answered the phone and was extremely nice, told me my application was with the last reviewer and that if I hadn't heard anything by Friday morning to give him a call to his direct line...after all the waiting I can honestly say I am very impressed with how well I was treated.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
The wait is over. Just got my acceptance letter. BUT I've been informed that the first round of scholarships have already been made. IF resources allow, they will make a second round of scholarships later in the summer.
This makes things a bit tricky. I currently have an offer from Emory ($20K/year), but wife currently works in NC. If I weren't to get accepted to UNC, I was planning on deferring a year at Emory to allow wife to find job in Atlanta area. But now I got into UNC, I'm leaning towards UNC, but paying out of state sticker price for UNC seems a bit too much... especially for all 3 years considering I've heard it's VERY difficult to gain NC residency for tuition purposes.
So, anyone know what the likelihood that UNC offers scholarship to those individuals that have been accepted late in the cycle?
Thanks.

Dean States told us explicitly (at ASD) not to count on it.dandoe123 wrote:The wait is over. Just got my acceptance letter. BUT I've been informed that the first round of scholarships have already been made. IF resources allow, they will make a second round of scholarships later in the summer.

On the other hand, you may have a better shot than most at residency since your wife works in NC and (assumingly) will continue to work there. Sounds like a tough choice. Good luck with your decision and congrats on the acceptance

Since you were willing to defer at Emory, are you at all willing to defer at UNC? Maybe get a job in the meantime? I don't know anything about gaining residency, but it might be an option.PurplePirate wrote:Dean States told us explicitly (at ASD) not to count on it.dandoe123 wrote:The wait is over. That's a good point. Also, if you defer at Emory do you still get to keep your scholarship?YouDontKnowMe wrote:Since you were willing to defer at Emory, are you at all willing to defer at UNC? Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Well I finally get to add something to this thread after following it for a couple months.
Waitlisted via email this evening.
Application Complete: Feb 9
Waitlisted: April 11
*checked my status checker this afternoon around 3pm and nothing had changed from complete status. Received waitlist email just before 7:30 EST.
Non URM, In State, just below median LSAT, above 75% GPA
Anyone going to ride the list until August with me? Go Heels! They are my #1 choice.

Waitlist
3.75 / 163 / OOS
Having been admitted and awarded scholarship money to comparable schools, I'm pretty shocked by the WL from Carolina.

Hey,
This may seam trivial, but when you went to the ASD, what were most poeple wearing?
I know it says business Casual but that can mean different things to different people.

I wore shorts and a tucked-in Oxford, but I saw a few folks there dressing nicer. I don't think you can go wrong with avoiding sweats and wearing khakis. Solid-color polo would be fine.Giantsfan13 wrote:Hey,

Honestly, in the history of ASDs, I doubt anyone has been reprimanded for dressing shabbily.

But I should have been more clear. What were the girls wearing?

Uh... Dresses... with... sweaters? It was kinda chilly out that day, so what I noticed the most was the dress/cardigan(the small sweater thing is a cardigan, right?) combo.
I noticed one girl wearing very white denim-ish pants and I remember thinking something along the lines of it being too early in the year for white pants.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
