Go Browns! We've got our biggest day of the year coming up, so I'm cautiously excited. If I wind up sitting this cycle out, I'll be there, too!JVanHo wrote:I'm a fellow Browns season ticket holder! So if I don't go to Case, I'll still be visiting Cleveland 8 times a yeargoldenflash19 wrote:Very grateful to have also had my scholly increased today. I'm nearly at a full ride, but I just don't know if I can commit to CLE for the rest of my life. I've loved the city dearly my whole life and am a Browns season ticket holder, but part of me wants a warm change of scenery. I guess this is a good first world problem to have.

Yay! There's also a board in the Class of 2015 section started for Case, sadly it's much smaller than this one, but come join there too!EVA8128 wrote:Not sure If i'm doing this post right - its my first one! It looks like I will be withdrawing from Case due to having been surprisingly accepted into OSU. Best wishes to those still waiting to be accepted and to those negotiating for more scholarship.

Congrats! OSU was a long shot for me and I got rejected, but had I gotten in I would have put my deposit immediately!Ohiobumpkin wrote:It looks like I will be withdrawing from Case due to having been surprisingly accepted into OSU. Im convinced Case is just playing games with me now
I still have not received my decision after nearly 5 months, and on friday my status checker changed to 'Decision Rendered Email'. I still haven't recieved an email!!! I have sholarship agreement form and transcripts listed under my required item list. I lsao have a deposit due in exactly two weeks under the deposit section. Just emailed admissions, we'll see what happens.

Re: Case Western 2015
That's odd. Did you list a secondary e-mail they might have sent info to? Just asking because Cincinnati randomly started e-mailing my secondary e-mail instead of the primary e-mail I listed on LSAC. On a positive note, sounds like you're in, with a scholarship!evenflow wrote:Im convinced Case is just playing games with me nowI still have not received my decision after nearly 5 months, and on friday my status checker changed to 'Decision Rendered Email'. Anyone know the typical start time for the first class of the day, and the end time for the last class of the day for a 1L at Case? I'm looking at a huge commute, so I need to see what's feasible and what isn't.

It will probably depend on what section you are in for the exact times but I think classes start around 9 am and are definitely done by 5 pmJVanHo wrote:Anyone know the typical start time for the first class of the day, and the end time for the last class of the day for a 1L at Case? 8 AM (earliest) to 2:10 PM (latest) for the upcoming semester. Varies slightly by section. You will have an 8 or an 8:20 class first semester. Pretty condensed. As a 1L, you'll be here every day of the week no matter what, unless a class is cancelled. There are occasional evening sessions (no more than 2-3 for the whole semester, I believe) for the legal writing class.JVanHo wrote:Anyone know the typical start time for the first class of the day, and the end time for the last class of the day for a 1L at Case? Spring is a draft schedule but looks like 8:55AM - 3:45PM as a range.

Re: Case Western 2015
Anyone have any advice on them vs Cleveland State. I was waitlisted at OSU so if I get in I'm going there but I can't decide between Clv & Case and have to by 27th. I was leaning Clv state, already paid seat deposit but now I don't know. I heard Clv state is better for the money and if you plan to stay in Cleveland. I want to stay in Clv by the way or maybe Columbus. So what makes Case worth the extra 20,000?

Re: Case Western 2015
The reason CSU is attractive to those who are committed to staying in Cleveland is that Case has only a marginal advantage over CSU in the local job market, excluding most large law firms. But, there are only 10 or so local BigLaw jobs a year, and not everyone wants those.
If you want to work anywhere else, Columbus included, CSU will put you at a significant disadvantage. If you are absolutely committed to staying in Cleveland and CSU is offering you significant money, you can consider CSU. Case's employment numbers are only somewhat better, but they give you the option to relocate, and slightly better salary/prestige, but obviously this is going to vary by what you want to do.

Re: Case Western 2015
Ended up getting offered a spot (deferred) with a big scholarship (CoA $14/yr). Well above both medians. Horrible experience with them. Heading to Pitt with their biggest scholarship and no debt.
Good luck to people at Case, hopefully you'll like it. The Prof's I've met are great people. Case's reputation outside NE Ohio isn't great. I know a good number of people who went outside the region, and no one heard of Case. Having a Case degree outside Oh can be tough, and Cleveland Marshall is almost as strong as Case in Cleveland. So, just be careful, because CM is usually cheaper. Talking to Case Prof's, they think the school is in decline somewhat, and personally, it's not worth too much debt. If you're an OH resident, OSU and Cincy are cheaper options, and CM.

I e-mailed and asked for an increase on my scholarship... if it's not a more than generous bump I'll be withdrawing. That'd be an open seat, and $30k/yr floating out there.Jsa725 wrote:Any advice on getting off the WL?

Accepted today via e-mail! I was hoping to hear from the Dean on the phone; I really liked talking with him. Pretty excited about this though. I'm fairly sure I'll be enrolling.

Re: Case Western 2015
Can anyone at or graduated from Case Western Law tell me a bit more about what the people at the school are like and what kind of environment they create? I'm looking for information that might give me a sense of what it would actually be like to be at Case Western. Students: are students very social/friendly, do they try to support one another, what kinds of attitudes and interests tend to prevail? Professors: are they accessible, have they given you good ideas and and helped you make connections regarding your career, are they engaging? And what about the staff, like people in career services - have students found these people helpful? I ask these questions because I would like to have a law school experience that I feel more connected to and stimulated by than I did attending my big public UG school. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
