Quick question-I submitted my app on the 15th but didnt get the complete email until the 21st. Do you think I will still be considered ED, since I checked it on the app and sent in the contract on time? If I am ED, would that be somewhere on my status checker on the columbia site? thanks for any input.

The status checker does not indicate whether we're ED or not... which I also find quite weird/confusing. I think you'll still be considered an ED applicant though.

Did anyone else receive a request for fall semester grades? I'm guessing its just a standard email they've been sending to RD applicants who are still in school.

I'm applying regular decision and just got a request for my fall grades too. Not exactly sure if it's a good thing of bad thing.

I’m RD, still in school, and no request. Maybe because they aren’t considering me for admission.

I really hope Columbia doesn't get so far behind in reviewing applications, that it has to defer the rest of us.

It seems to be random. Quoting from another thread:

I think calling this cycle wacky is a little over the top. It's not even two weeks into December yet. Don't they only promise answers before January? Nobody would even be worried if people hadn't gone over the last five years of decision dates and tried to predict when they were coming out.

Or maybe those four guys were it and we're all doomed. Honestly, I wrote that as a joke, but if this is a low applicant year and they end up dipping a little deeper into the applicant pool to maintain their medians, they might defer a lot of people to RD and accept them once it's clear that they really need to. It's not like any borderline ED candidates are going to do better than Columbia, so there's not a huge reason to keep them bound.
