I'll just index and paste LSN profile's onto here so people can have all the scholarship info in one place.

Univ. Iowa Index Calculation:
(LSAT*.876) + (GPA*9.621) -.407 = Index
Maximum 195.77
GPA % 19.62

I'm guessing everyone Chica and above will receive or has received a full tuition merit scholarship.

I'll predict that elaman and chrissyc will both pick up full tuition scholarships given that they're the highest URM candidates on LSN for the cycle. I stopped including candidates after UNC as the rest had LSAT's of 166 and lower and thus their index numbers dropped below what has historically been the minimum in years past for full tuition scholarships. I included Jayman6 in the calculations since he asked earlier about his chances of financial aid.

However, the applicant class at Iowa seems to be very strong this year so I would suggest candidates take these predictions with a grain of salt, but it is a clear reversal of what occurred during last year's cycle where lots of scholarships were thrown out even to lower indexed applicants. This year there is a glut of qualified applicants well over the 75th percentile.

Updated a few more withdraws. I'm going to crunch the numbers for more applicants and put them on the board tomorrow when I get a little free time. There is going to be a lot more candidates between the 180.5 cutoff and the auto scholarship send out. I'll try to add in state status as well.

Chrisbru is officially the lowest index recorded since LSN started to receive a full. Congrats

However other candidates with similar index scores should not be expecting full tuition to attend unless they have a 165+ LSAT and are in state. Out of State Candidates appear to need an index still of 180.5+ this cycle for $. Judging by the letters I would even say it's around 181 or higher this year for OOS candidates. Obviously it will lower closer to April and likely a few scholarships will be thrown out after seat deposits are paid.

I would say if you were a 164/165 candidate then yes you would likely receive 1/2. It's hard to say, they might throw 10-20k a year your way or something. Do you qualify for anything through FAFSA?

I would say if you were a 164/165 candidate then yes you would likely receive 1/2. It's hard to say, they might throw 10-20k a year your way or something. Do you qualify for anything through FAFSA?

I have no answer for that, from what I have read they give 90% of students some form of money to come. Which possibly means I am the 10% too shitty to get any. Hoping that is not hte case, but my lsat is under 25th so its possible.

UPDATE: got this from their website. there are several needs based grants/scholarships so there is still hope even if we dont qualify for the merit based. good luck!

SCHOLARSHIPS, FELLOWSHIPS, EMPLOYMENT AND LOAN PROGRAMS
 SCHOLARSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS

A separate application is not required for these scholarships and fellowships. Recipients are notified by letter. All students admitted to the College of Law who apply for financial aid through the FAFSA process, including submitting the appropriate supporting documents, are automatically considered for the following:

 Need-Based Scholarships. Awards may range from $500 to full resident tuition.

 Merit Scholarships and Fellowships. These awards are based on academic achievement. Potential aid renewal for the second and third year for some merit scholarships and fellowships requires maintenance of class rank in the top 37.5%. Awards may range from $500 to full resident tuition with a research-assistantship component in upper-level years.

 UI Law Foundation Scholarships. The University of Iowa Law Foundation Scholarships includes scholarships that are merit based, need based and a combination of need and merit. These scholarships are awarded to a limited number of students who meet the criteria established by the scholarship donors, as funds are available. Awards may range from $200 to full resident tuition.

 Law Opportunity Fellowships. The College of Law is committed to affording opportunity for a legal career to persons historically underrepresented in the legal profession. The Law Opportunity Fellowship Program (LOF) was established by the University to provide access to law school for students from groups and backgrounds historically under-represented within the legal community. Among the criteria considered in awarding the fellowships are: educationally and/or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, leadership potential and academic merit. Awards may be up to full nonresident tuition for three years and the opportunity to hold a research assistant position for the second and third years.

You're still jumping the gun. People accepted in December are still waiting on scholarships. If you haven't heard anything by mid-March, check back with us.

Was accepted by email two days, then received an acceptance letter yesterday, then received another acceptance letter today. I won't believe it unless I get another letter, ha.

I know this is anecdotal, but a friend of mine got a rull ride offer at Iowa last year and turned it down for a T14 even though he was actually very interested in attending Iowa. He was even an in-stater and they still wouldn't remove his stipulation, so he chose to attend a T14 with a lower scholarship because they didn't have such strict stipulations.

I guess it's not a huge deal... I mean, even if I end up losing the scholarship after the first year, it only ends up being about $40k more than St. Thomas, for a MUCH better school, and still will be cheaper than WUSTL by about $30 k.

Sweet Baby Jesus. EFC was $0! I don't know if that s a good thing or not that I am broke. lol. So now that my FAFSA is filled out, is the NeedAccess form I keep hearing people talk about required by Iowa? I hope not. Otherwise, the EFC will be a different story.
