Masterthearts, I don't really mind you being on this thread. If you truly are still considering W&M with money over GULC, that's no problem.
But GULC v. WM ($$) discussions belong in the Choosing a Law School Forum.

Re: William & Mary 2011
Anyone see any rhyme or reason to when W&M decisions are posted? It appears from LSN that there have been two releases - December 2nd and November 18th (there were also a lot of updates on the 19th). The other dates seem like they could be a result of people listing when they got the package rather than when the status checker was updated.
Do we think that they release acceptances every two weeks on Thursdays? Last years data was a bit more spread out, but that could be because they didn't have a status checker last year (right?).

I want to hear from them so badly... My friends have heard back. Are they only accepting people to whom they are also offering scholarships?

I'm not sure this is the exact logic behind it but I would say if you're accepted this early, you're probably receiving a scholarship.fryberki wrote:I want to hear from them so badly... My friends have heard back. Are they only accepting people to whom they are also offering scholarships?

I also found out recently that apparently I'm virtually the ONLY W&M undergrad applying to law school who didn't get a fee waiver... either it was a clerical error or they REALLY don't want me

Ha! I think the GL messages are sent alphabetically. With that being sad, my last name starts with “T” so yeah, I got one today. Maybe you’ll get one on tomorrow- if your last name starts with “U-Z?” If not.. IDK...I didn't get one

FWIW my status went away completely during the time I was under review/accepted. It has only recently returned to "Initial review complete" as of lately, even though I was accepted. Keep an eye on the mailings section to see if it says "Congratulations - Admit package mailed" or something like that. The status checker probably will still not reflect anything. That's how I found out I was accepted.ksimon2007 wrote:Well let's hope that means we're under review...kjadkins wrote:Mine did the same thing.ksimon2007 wrote:My status finally changed from file is incomplete...now it's nonexistent...

How long was it for you between the status checker going blank and you seeing the mailing dealJeffro wrote:FWIW my status went away completely during the time I was under review/accepted. It's different for everyone. I went blank mid-November and people got accepted who went blank the same time I did. Some people (like me) are still waiting. Come on W & M! Please accept me! <3

Where are you getting 90% from?
In 2009, they had 4209 applicants and accepted 1014 of them. So 24%.

Lol yea, I think the only school with a 90% acceptance rate is Cooley.

Uhhh... citation?justadude55 wrote:how does w&m have a 90% acceptance rate. is this sample unrepresentative?
From the TLS profile:
"For its Class of 2012, 22% of about 5,000 applicants were accepted."
and
"Its acceptance rate rivals that of such top schools as NYU, Michigan, Duke, and Georgetown."

As has been discussed W&M's "modified rolling admissions" pretty much means that this early in the cycle they send out mainly acceptances. Instead of early wait-list or denials they hold on to many applications until March.justadude55 wrote:i meant off this forum.

Re: William & Mary 2011
Also, people on TLS generally have much higher #s than the general population. So, just by glancing at a thread, it's going to seem like the majority are accepted. However, in reality, roughly 8 out of 10 applicants will be rejected from W&M.Mpeterson4 wrote:As has been discussed W&M's "modified rolling admissions" pretty much means that this early in the cycle they send out mainly acceptances.
