This whole wait is KILLING me. I just don't understand why a simple yes or no is so ridiculously complicated. I'm beginning to wonder if I will know before the end of May....and it holds up getting an apartment anywhere else.

I went complete in early March so I haven't been waiting nearly as long as some people here, but all my other applications went complete around the same day and I've heard back from nearly all of them. Idk why Bama takes so long. It doesn't make sense that all the other schools in the region can get a yes/no out or at least have you in review while Bama sits around. Even schools with higher rank (and therefore I'd assume higher application traffic) have managed to give me an answer.

Question: If Alabama's admission department acts this way would it be illogical to wonder if the faculty cares this little too?

I will be the white knight for bama. The faculty are incredible. I know it's frustrating to wait on your #1 choice and the Internet is a perfect forum to vent, but the faculty from my interactions categorically blew my hair back.

So what's the word on this process? Are they just slow? Are they taking the cream off the top and waiting to see what's left? What's the general analysis on this god awful situation?

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but it is not a god awful situation. You applied late in the game. It's life. First come, first serve, even if the first aren't the best candidates.

Is there REALLY an advantage to rolling admissions? I mean, even if you were to say that it takes the pressure off having to meet a deadline I think everyone would agree that there is still an advantage to applying early. Even the tour guide from Alabama said that if you're a splitter you definitely want to apply early. I think there should just be a Feb cut off. It seems to me like it would be less stress inducing.

From what I've gathered glancing through this forum, a lot of people that applied as early as November still don't know if they're in or not.

Anyone know what "pending" means exactly??

as far as i know, "pending" 'means that it is somewhere in the "review" process. which doesn't mean "held" i don't think...it's more like they want to either look at some additional information about you besides your scores if you're borderline, or compare you to other people. if you have stellar scores, they probably want to read your personal statement to make sure you're not an axe murderer or that you didn't write your resume in crayon.

I love my mother, but if she says "You're going to get accepted!!!" one more time, I'll die. I'm pretty prepared for the possibility rejection. I think I should prepare HER.

I've been pending since February 9th.... I wouldn't put too much weight on hearing a decision anytime soon if you're stuck in pending.

It would be so nice if this whole application process involved an interview. It is so much easier to make an impression that way, instead of just being LSAC number whatever with a score and a GPA and a personal statement that doesn't really mean anything or tell them who you really are. And yet I have 3 friends who are going to dental school and they all have interviews......seems like something that would be more important to our profession than theirs.

I'll be honest, I mainly applied for the T-shirt. But since they were nice enough to let me in I do want to give them serious consideration (especially if the scholarship package is nice)... Is being in the state of Alabama as awful as it sounds? Are there more modernized areas?
