I feel that most people that have been admitted so far are auto-admits. Have any non URM splitters or reverse splitters been admitted? I am a splitter and I saw people on LSN with my numbers were all admitted if they applied early (I applied the first day), most got money too, but nothing so far for me...

I would venture to say that I was not an auto-admit but I guess I could be mistaken. I am out of state but did write a personal statement and a DS both centered around being a lesbian so that could have helped. Just a thought...

3.9/170 is pretty much an auto admit at Michigan lol.

I suck at updating my profile but real stats are 3.84/170. I don't quite understand auto-admit stuff so maybe I am still in that category? Hmm...

by "auto-admit," he's not claimiong that you get admitted any faster than others, he's claiming that when they do get to your app, your numbers will guarantee you acceptance, although i am not sure that's true. their new 75th is 171, not 170

the way nearly all schools' medians just keep rising and rising, it seems like within 10 years every single law school is gonna have medians of 4.0 and 180 lol. i wonder when it tapers off.

We'll see what happens this year, what with the supposed ~10% drop in LSAT takers (hearsay, haven't seen the actual numbers)... means medians could hold or even drop at some schools (sure, just speculation, but seems reasonable... logic born of hope!)

Probably when the economy recovers, decreasing test-taker population and number of testers scoring 170+.

Not necessarily. The test taking population may maintain its current rates, but medians can't continue to rise indefinitely.

I'm not a stats guy, but if you have 80,000 discrete test takers in one year, you have about 2000 170+ scores. At 100,000 you have about 2500. Even though 170+ is relatively ridiculously rare, when you have a large body, it makes a difference. With this year dropping again, there will be fewer higher scores, obviously, if LSAC is doing their scaling correctly (which I assume), and I think we can bank on a few schools either going down or taking a hit on GPA (much like Chicago did this term). The numbers I quoted may vary (speculation based on hearsay), but I think the drift of my argument holds (I'm not the first one to make it, but I agree with it).

Edit: I think Chicago actually went down a point on median LSAT and up a bit in GPA, but that really doesn't change anything.

I read on here somewhere that adcoms think that last year was an exception and that the numbers will be more like 2008 numbers. I hope that is true. At the same time, the fact that the legal hiring market sucks is becoming more well known so it might not make a difference in the t14.

I think I have a serious problem I wish UMich were more reliable in terms of when you'd hear back, like CCN. With that you can figure it out within a range of a few days, at most a couple weeks in terms of when you submitted. Maybe Michigan is just trying to make me go completely crazy in preparation for Ann Arbor winters...

You are not from the frost-belt states? And second Mr. Toad's post. You should be more concerned with CCN instead of PMVN

Well I'm from Ohio and go to school in NYC, so I'm not...unaccustomed to snow. But I figure that would be a bit more hardcore than I'm used to.

& I went to a Gtown event where one of the adcomm people specifically said that they think this year won't have as many applicants/won't be as competitive as last year was. Yaaay!

Knowing how crappy the job market made me me apply way more places. Being from around DC I would have just applied GULC, UVA, Penn, and GW with W&M as a safety. I would never have considered Michigan even though it turned out to be my favorite school let alone Berkeley. As it is I've applied everywhere 4-17 except NW.

I imagine other people are thinking the same way. So someone with good numbers who really wants NYC might decide that instead of just shooting for CLS or NYU and going to Cornell or Fordham if they don't get accepted, they blanket the top 14 and go to the best one that will take them. I think it will be more common as more applicants are aware of the legal market but maybe they will be smart and just not apply.

I also got my mailed acceptance today. Was at home when I got back from work. For those wondering, my status checker only today updated to "decision" and I can access the admitted student's website (so it seems to be a legit way to figure out if you got in or not w/o the mail in hand).
