Re: Ohio State 2011 Applicants
So here's something I'm wondering about... any input or comments would be appreciated.
Has anyone heard of somebody getting waitlisted at Moritz? I haven't but i've only been on this board for a few weeks. I'm wondering if during the early months, instead of Waitlisting people, they do that thing where they change your Under Review date which basically just puts you back on the bottom of the pile (like a waitlist) and you get looked at again during the next cycle of admissions after they've gone through the next pile.
The reason they might do this is because people who get waitlisted often withdraw their applications either out of despair thinking they're not going to get in or as a matter of ego, they'd prefer to withdraw instead of possibly being rejected. So for those borderline applicants who they want to pass on in the first round of the draft but hope to maybe pick up in the next, its a better strategy than using a waitlist.
Now that could all be a bunch of crap. I don't have any evidence to back it up. Its just a hypothesis. Can anyone disprove this by either having been waitlisted or perhaps having had your UR date updated and then receiving a decision the next week?

A handful of people on LSN were waitlisted last year, but it does seem to be a smaller WL than most other schools on LSN have:dans1006 wrote:So here's something I'm wondering about... any input or comments would be appreciated.

Re: Ohio State 2011 Applicants
L...
Maybe at the end of the cycle they start a formal waitlist while people are making those final decisions on accepting or withdrawing. Once the application deadline is up they can really start to formalize the hierarchy of a waitlist. I picture them taking the remaining apps, making the offers they want and then taking the rest and stacking them in a the order of most desirable to least desirable. And then as they get a W or two from an admitted, they throw a bone to the next person on top of the waitlist.
I don't know. I'm obsessing about this way too much. I was just really hoping to go the the admitted student weekend at the beginning of March and I think I may just withdraw and send in my seat deposit at UC if I don't hear anything before then. I'm one of those neurotic people who can't deal with limbo. There is still a little bit more time though. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hi everyone! I was thinking about the March 4-5 ASW...I'm assuming the social event on Friday evening will be at the Barrister's Club. Why don't we all plan on meeting up at the fireplace there??
We could also start a group email to share names/pictures if you'd all like to - what do you think? If we want to, everyone just PM me their emails and I can start it

It would be a pretty poor negotiation tactic if I committed before they responded to my request for more money.charcop wrote:RTS83 wrote:How could you turn us down? We are pretty much already a family...Lwoods wrote:

Re: Ohio State 2011 Applicants
i heard back from OSU today regarding my scholarship. I received a good scholarship (I THINK??) but I probably need more money to be able to afford attending. Is it wrong if i attend ASW before i figure out if i am attending or not?
I am almost sure i am sold on OSU but money is the major deciding factor even though i am waiting to hear back from a lot of other schools.

You can definitely go to an ASW before you've decided. A big part of it is the school selling itself to the admitted students.313D313 wrote:i heard back from OSU today regarding my scholarship. Does OSU negotiate aid very often? Anyone have success? I've heard they don't give many full rides. Can anyone confirm if they are willing to negotiate at all?

Rejected 2/22, 2.95/167. I knew I was trouble when I saw somebody on LSN with 2.8/174 rejected. Seems like they have a pretty hard floor of 3.0 gpa. Good luck to all still waiting for decisions.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
