I received an email today, as well. It was unsolicited.

I just posted this elsewhere, so I apologize for the double-post:
Does anyone know how intensive Georgetown's "Yellow" form is? I'm particularly interested in whether or not essays are required. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I filled mine out and essays aren't required. I didn't find it to be all that intensive, honestly. Definitely not more so than the need access form.frankjones wrote:I just posted this elsewhere, so I apologize for the double-post:

Yeah, I sent an e-mail tonight, so maybe they'll see it tomorrow. I'm not sure it'll even be worth it, but I guess it can't hurt.eas331 wrote:No e-mails/interviews for me. It never occurred to me to call to say I'm interested in a scholarship! I thought that was self evident, and I submitted the yellow sheet/needaccess/fafsa as early as I could. I wonder if it would still make sense to call and inquire. Any thoughts/advice?
(For what it's worth, I don't have auto-scholarship numbers for GULC, and my choice of school will depend heavily on scholarship offers.)

+1. The e-mail was out of the blue for me, and I asked for a lot of money. It'll be interesting to see how they respondTheWire wrote:I didjs87 wrote:I got the email today as well. I also received an email out of the blue (after being held at Columbia and finally going second UR at Chicago I sort of forgot about GULC) and was pleasantly surprised.TheWire wrote:I didjs87 wrote:I got the email today as well. When you guys talk about asking for a lot, are you mentioning actual dollar amounts? My main concern is the fact that I have no family/housing around DC and would probably need to pony up for a car (and all attendant payments) on top of normal LS costs, but I wasn't sure if simply stating these concerns (and letting them fill in a number) was enough or if the proper protocol was to bluntly state a price.

I wrote something along the lines of "University X gave me $_____, can you match it?"

Did they do this same scholarship process last year? I had written off GULC after that first wave, now I'm slightly intrigued.

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
Hey, so for any of you on the non-special Preferred GULC Waiting List, do you have prior experience/sound advice on how I can best contact them in the next few weeks?
I received the email last Friday —the one saying that they will contact me in May to test my interest then. However, I will go bald pulling my hair out if not allowed to solicit them professionally with a well thought out LOCI (incl. transcript and extra curric. updates, as well as a few direct statements about how I am a perfect fit for GULC, and that they are my #1 choice without question).
So, is it OK for em to send such letter, say, in 3 weeks as opposed to waiting painfully until May? If nothing else it will help inform them of some of the many ways in which I adore their school —a need to cut down on word count prevented me from writing a GULC-specific PS.
Also, for those of you in this situation: I am in CA, and can't afford to fly to meet with an adcomm/take a tour. Is calling them/trying to set up a phone interview a good strategy. I don't want to assault these folks, but i want to be persistent and persuasive in just the right, strategic way.
Thanks!
