You mean rejection via snail mail?? Hopefully not! Although one of my neighbors has been stealing my mail lately. Not sure why...Tiago Splitter wrote:Is it possible we got notified a while back and just missed it?kennethellenparcell wrote:Sigh. Complete forever and ever.

Well I went complete 11/11, and I sent in a LOCI last week because I never wrote a why mich and figured it can't hurt at this point. They said they'd add it to my file. So I'm pretty sure if I was magically rejected and didn't know it they wouldn't have said that haha. So I think we really are just on the sad forgotten maybe pilekennethellenparcell wrote:You mean rejection via snail mail?? Hopefully not! Nope, because there's no way I'll ever get need-based aid.JoeMo wrote:Unam... did you do the need access application? The one that you have to pay $28 for?BuckinghamB wrote:+1. Dude, we didn't get need based aid with an independent family of four, one measly income, and zero assets. It's hard to get need based at Michigan, IMO. Apparently my retirement account that I've put virtually nothing into in the last few years and can't touch at all put us over the top.UnamSanctam wrote:Nope, because there's no way I'll ever get need-based aid.JoeMo wrote:Unam... did you do the need access application? Yeah, need based aid is impossible.sanguar wrote:Dude, we didn't get need based aid with an independent family of four, one measly income, and zero assets. Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Need based aid =/= merit based aid. They hand out plenty of merit based aid. More specifically, I was just saying need based aid is impossible for my circumstances, hence why I never filled out an application.YesNoMaybe wrote:WHAT?UnamSanctam wrote: Yeah, need based aid is impossible.is this f'realz? Yes, but does Michigan?paul34 wrote:It is optional on the actual form, but if you read the financial aid sections on the sites of some schools, they tell you they require parental financial information.UnamSanctam wrote: The hell? My mom brings in less than 40 a year, and we have no assets and I was only given $12500/yr in financial aid. I'm one of three dependents, my other brother is in college. Yeah mich didn't give too much. Hoping to negotiate for merit aid Also, they did my grants in around a week after I was accepted
And michigan does require it, I believe.

I'm in the car. I'll pm you when I'm home. If it helps, I think you have to send in yours and your parents tax forms to finalize thingsUnamSanctam wrote:Link me.avd90 wrote:And michigan does require it, I believe.

Don't panic yet. I got close to $18,000/yr in need aid so you may get something yet. But I agree they are more stingy in the need area than some. I wonder what their max is. Anyone get more yet?YesNoMaybe wrote:WHAT?UnamSanctam wrote: Yeah, need based aid is impossible.is this f'realz? I am now exceptionally worried. Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I definitely don't think he's right. I filled out my need based aid form and didn't have to send in my parental information. Again, I think this goes back to the questions on the need based form that basically guide you along to determining whether you still need parental information or not. I'm married, so in my case Michigan didn't ask for parent information and my information is now complete awaiting review.UnamSanctam wrote:I await with bated breath.avd90 wrote:I'm in the car. I emailed Michigan because my parents were in an unusual tax/living situation, and they replied saying I didn't need to send in parent info.
I did get a scholly so not eligible for need based aid though, so that might have something to do with it.

Yeah, upon reflection, I don't think it was required for sending in FAFSA to UM or anything like that. However, when I received my needbased aid, it did say that I needed to send in my parents tax returns when (if) I accepted. This might be why I was confused, so I'm sorry for the misinformation!

I'm 24 and married. I don't know if that married changed anything. I don't remember having to send anything about my parents in last year.

Now I get what you're saying. I checked their fin aid stuff for FAFSA, but that only explicitly mention yourself (and spouse). As far as I know, you don't need parental information to fill out FAFSA (I didn't). Need-based definitely requires parental financial aid stuff, though.avd90 wrote:Yeah, upon reflection, I don't think it was required for sending in FAFSA to UM or anything like that.
