Well, they got my new LOR today. Actually, it was processed remarkably fast. My recommender faxed it to LSAC this morning, and it was on Harvard's status checker this afternoon. Hopefully they have time to actually read the thing; I wish he'd been faster at getting it in (but I'm grateful for anything).

Anyone else find it annoying how you have to click on like 5 different links to get to the status checker and each one opens a new browser tab?

JR and HLS adcomms, take note (I'm looking at you, BG ). It would be horrible to reject someone on their birthday. That would generate bad karma for sure.

They waitlisted and rejected people into May last cycle. That's cruel and unusual, especially for people who escaped the 4/15 & 4/16 bloodbath and might have thought they had a chance at a late acceptance.

So you could actually be accepted into May, and dodge the WL altogether? Something new to pray for I figured the WL was fixed and sent to everyone who was not rejected by the same point in time, no exceptions.

I think its important to realize that Harvard did not really do rolling rejections last year. They just sort of dumped out few thousand rejections starting mid-march. This year its pretty different. I imagine that holds will just get waitlisted, no rejections save a few.

i think so. some non-holds may very well just be very late applicant rejections.
also, it still seems like there should be so more acceptances. especially as JR said that jr-1 hold vs nojr1 hold was really just a question of when people applied in the cycle (meaning I guess that after mid-november or so they had so many apps that they only did jr1s with people they pretty much already had decided to admit). that being said, pretty much no no-jr1-holds except for people with a feb lsat score have received new jr1s as far as I can tell. maybe we can expect, please!, some last minute movement on the no-jr-1 pile. or not.

I don't think so. If I even got held it would be a miracle worked by the harvard gods, and there would be a shrine erected on the site of its occurrence. "on this site the Harvard Law admissions committee collectively lost their minds on a Spring Day in 2010" .

it would be almost as eerie as getting the silhouette of harvard law school burned into my toast tomorrow morning. eerier.

don't rule it out buddy, I'm an auto-reject too. My GPA probably induced an adcomm to faint in outrage that a non-URM with such awful grades would dare to sully their hallowed institution with an application.

That's hardly their problem.

As far as your existing loan plans go, you don't have to worry about those. The loans are all contingent on you actually enrolling, so they just disappear.

The difficulty lies in getting your financial aid package at your new school so late in the game. They tell you to aim for the "priority deadline" or whatever, and here you're only, oh, like six months behind. But I imagine that if you're willing to uproot and head to Cambridge that late in the season, that they'll make sure you get a loan package. It just might not be as ideal as an earlier package would have been.

I'd imagine if someone was actually willing to uproot and switch all their law school plans at the last possible second to go to HLS, the possible lack of a loan package wouldn't faze them much.
