Sent in a LOCI and application update today after their encouragement yesterday. Doubt it will do any good.

A close friend just got dinged via email (his timestamp says 8:17 california time). He would not check the status checker to give me a DLS date because he's washing his hands of nyu. Fine. But at the very least, maybe it means that not all dings are snail mail. DLS 4/9s wanna come to my pity party/what does this all mean sesh?

If it makes you feel any better, I checked very late last night and was still under review, got a rejection e-mail late this morning and my status checker now says DLS 4/22.

DLS'd just now, saying 4/8. Awesome. What do we think this means? Oh wait, we have no clue because NYU is insane.

EDIT: Called them because I have no shame, and they told me the decision was sent by email (a bad thing?), but that their system has been acting very slowly. They said that if we haven't received the email yet and status checker is saying that a decision was sent awhile ago, that we should email them and ask that it be re-sent.

Can I be uber annoying and suggest something about how early your DLS was and how that maybe makes you a stronger candidate, or at least not-so-weak? No? Ok I'll crawl back in my hole now.

Haha is that bc u think the later dls people were held onto longer bc they were trying to decide whether to WL or ding? Hmm its possible but the whole thing is so hard to figure out so who really knows

Yea, but it could so easily be so many other things too, like different people handling different apps, etc. If I'm grasping for straws, it's just because I so desperately want nyu. Oh well, I figured WL for months and am quite pleased with it, not because I think I have any hope of getting off but because it's a much better thing for my file for next year. Oh yes, I haven't had enough of nyu admissions process yet. I'm going back for seconds.

Class of 2014 - improved LSAT by 3 points, applied ED, deferred and then dinged in April.

just to expand/diversify the sample:

i applied last year, early january and was dinged in april.
this year, improved LSAT by 8 points, applied in mid-november, and just put on the waitlist this week (which i will be riding to the very end...)

woke up to a waitlist email this morning. DLS 4/11. Riding out the waitlist. Sending in additional personal statement - I only applied to two schools because I am extremely particular about what I want. Also since applying I began tutoring SAT prep so I'll possibly be sending in an additional recommendation from one of my clients. GOOD LUCK to everyone riding it out!!!!

Thanks for the info, all who offered. It does seem like 2/3 of you made improvements (even if it wasn't an admit, sorry for that). I wouldn't say I had any sort of parade to be rained on, like a "oh now I'm definitely getting in next year!" attitude, but you did help me cement my decision not to ED here next year. Guess I gotta decide between Columbia and mich for that honor.

Obviously I'm sticking this WL out.
