You're going to have an easier time getting wherever you want to go if you have ties. I wouldn't count on biglaw, but 10% of the class of 2013 did go to NY.PB&J.D. wrote: Any concerns over post-grad mobility? I've never been to St. Louis and doubt I would want to stick around after? I'll be a 3L at my school and still commenting in the Wash U threads, assuming I don't ragequit TLS after too much suppression of my natural urge to tell people they're stupid.

Yeah that's not gonna happen. I outperformed my LSAT so hard it'll go down in the history books. I'm quite content with my shitty score, thanks.Attax wrote:You should retake.Ricky-Bobby wrote: It's your magnetic personality that just won't let me go.

I'm glad we have the same urges. I think that's what makes this WUSTL group so amazing. It's the smart people who don't take shit so goddamn seriously.

This was my main concern when looking at WUSTL over some of the other offers I received, particularly from regionals with strong employment stats that focused on just one area versus WUSTL's broader (But comparatively weaker) reach. I have no ties anywhere in the midwest, and for the east coast nothing I could put in a resume unless "Grandparents live in this city" and "The Smithsonian is awesome I've been four times" are acceptable items. I just kind of hope that the economy continues to improve and another 2011 doesn't occur during my OCI year.PB&J.D. wrote:You're going to have an easier time getting wherever you want to go if you have ties. When I visited WUSTL, I went to Bar Review and spoke to several current students 1L - 3L. Everyone basically said the same thing. If you know where you want to end up, you'll have to work for it, but you can make it happen. I spoke to 1Ls who are going to intern in LA, NY, etc...and I spoke to 3Ls who had jobs lined up all over. Even people that didn't have something set up said that it was really their own fault for not working at it hard enough. So the opportunities won't just be handed to you, but they are available.PB&J.D. wrote:Any concerns over post-grad mobility? I've never been to St. Louis and doubt I would want to stick around after? I feel your concern. My sister went to Fordham and she graduated top 30% of the class last year. It was through her tremendous efforts in lobbying & networking that she landed this BIG LAW FIRM. I just don't think I can go that far to secure a job by networking.Dredd_2017 wrote:This was my main concern when looking at WUSTL over some of the other offers I received, particularly from regionals with strong employment stats that focused on just one area versus WUSTL's broader (But comparatively weaker) reach. You know how the boss always waits to fire you until the end of the day on a Friday? Well I'm sorry to say I'll be withdrawing from WUSTL shortly. Sad to go, it really is a great school and I know I would have enjoyed attending, but it just wasn't in the cards.
Good luck to all those matriculating in the fall, or still waiting on decisions.
