+1. That means a decision before the Columbia ASW, which I'm sure was their intent. Bah.jrgong wrote:$37,500 here. also hating the 4/2 deadline. i anticipate being on hold at harvard for at least another two months.

Though I should note that at one point people were. We used to have a legitimate farm with horses and acres there, and now that's laughable.

Not true. I was not invited to apply for the Dean's scholarship and got $37.5k in merit aid.hopefullaw27 wrote:did you get invited to apply for a dean's scholarship? i think those are the people who are getting money...unfortunately, i think, if you didn't get the invitation to apply for a dean's scholarship, merit money is not in the picture...not definite on this thoughjammybaby wrote:If I havent heard anything about $ yet does this mean I'm not getting any? If they cleaned it every once in awhile it might be comparable to San Fran or L.A.gahthelaw wrote:damn straight.Kronk wrote:No, after visiting it sits much better with me.gahthelaw wrote:kronk you don't STILL hate NYC do you?

Yes; the FinAid documents were available around mid-February (via the admitted students website). Those invited to apply for the Dean's Scholarship had to get their info in by 2/24. Otherwise, I'm not sure when the FinAid deadline is.georgina wrote:did those getting awards today already turn in all their fin aid docs? if so, when? i'm confused, and apparently, behind.

Eh, to be fair, SF is one of the dirtiest big cities in America. Sure, the air is clean, but the streets (esp. Market Street) are really dirty. Way more homeless people on the streets in SF than NYC, too, which is remarkable given the populations of the two cities.Kronk wrote:If they cleaned it every once in awhile it might be comparable to San Fran or L.A.gahthelaw wrote:damn straight.Kronk wrote:No, after visiting it sits much better with me.gahthelaw wrote:kronk you don't STILL hate NYC do you?![]()

30 k for me (planning on doing PI), and I was not invited to apply.
I have a much larger offer from Michigan, do you think it's worth trying to negotiate with NYU?
Note: I don't think the financial aid deadline for us non-invited folks has passed yet, I just did mine while I was doing Columbia's and had all my financial info ready to go.

You have more experience in both cities than me, but it definitely seems like the buildings and transportation system (subway/BART) are a lot cleaner in SF than NYC. Or maybe it's just the whole being able to see the Pacific thing.crackberry wrote: Eh, to be fair, SF is one of the dirtiest big cities in America. Sure, the air is clean, but the streets (esp. Point taken. San Francisco does cater to the AARP crowd..gahthelaw wrote:are they open 24 hours a day?Kronk wrote:You have more experience in both cities than me, but it definitely seems like the buildings and transportation system (subway/BART) are a lot cleaner in SF than NYC. So we can all agree L.A. is the best big city, then?

No.Kronk wrote:So we can all agree L.A. is the best big city, then?
Also, Muni/BART are definitely cleaner than MTA in NYC, but I actually think downtown NYC is cleaner than downtown SF. The thing is, no one really hangs out in downtown SF. It's where people work and there are good happy hour bars, but no one actually lives there. The awesome neighborhoods in SF (Pac Heights, Nob Hill, Russian Hill, Lower Haight, Hayes Valley, etc.) are all cleaner than NYC.
I think SF and NYC are the two best cities in America, and I'm not sure what order to put them in.
