I am just sitting here feeling a little sorry for myself this morning... (slowly cleaning rabbit ears... single tear trailing slowly down rabbit cheek).

I will be more optimistic soon, I just kind of feel like a fool for believin' the hype. It's the #'s, the #'s, the #'s... nothing else matters, apparently, and I should have listened to the TLSers more closely; they were right.

I'm with ya, Robin... I really am... I keep looking over the notes for my final tomorrow and then coming back to TLS and lurking.

So... dinged again this cycle. 0-2 right out of the gate... I figured that, with a top 5% LSAT score and almost 20 years between my first attempt at school, that my 4.0 would hold more water than the LSDAS grade calculation that refuses to accept the passage of time and/or the retaking of classes.

Or (arguing in the alternative) that if the schools still looked at my GPA: they would see for themselves that I came back and had perfect marks in all my classes since returning to school four years ago. OR, failing in that, I thought that maybe they actually weren't blowing smoke when they said that they took a holistic approach to reviewing applications and my decade of successful management experience would carry me through... Or, failing in even that, the fact that I will be entering with a post-grad degree from a highly respected insitution in my field, also with a 4.0 GPA, would hold some weight with Adcoms.

None of these, apparently, are true stories. They look at two numbers, and decide whether or not you can hack it from these figures. Running a multi-million dollar company with a perfect graduating GPA and top LSAT score means nothing, if you made a mistake 20 years ago. For traditional applicants, it would be analgous to rejecting someone because they failed handwriting in the fourth grade.

Sigh... I came here hoping that someone could right the Optimism ship for me. It's listing to the side where I am standing and threatening to capsize.

This. Is. Fabulous. Wait, if you're that rich, why do you care about law school? I would never have guessed that you had such a wonderful job from your previous PMs.

Also, I never said I was rich anywhere in the post that I saw, nor meant to convey that message; but I do apologize for the connotation. However you're right, I should surely clarify...

I have previous management experience for a large company. Certainly, I wish I was higher up on the food chain than I was!

As I said in my reply, I had just hoped that the "holistic" approach took into consideration WE and upward grade trends. And maybe they do... It's not like I have any more knowledge about the process than most of the people around here. So please allow me to apologize for bringing the room down with those comments...

As I also said, I was basically just a little down starting out so poorly in the cycle, but I certainly shouldn't come on here to grouse.

So far we are cycle buddies because our records are the same! That should not get you down because frankly I'm cool as hell!!!! lol. No really though, we will get in somewhere, even if we have to ride out every waitlist till the end of July. We can do it together! If all else fails we can pull a Watergate!

No worries. You can bring your grousing over here and we can try our best to cheer you up! Which is what I was attempting to do by reminding you what a wonderful job you had. I was on the verge of asking you to hire me! And a lot of great schools DO take considerable work experience into account, so don't worry! If they don't take you, it means that you're a better fit for somewhere else.
