There's nothing wrong with American, they have some fine programs (especially intl law). But I did start laughing when I got the WL email. Apparently it's a YP day today.

Re: American U
Just got the waitlist email after being complete since like 10/9. I can only be bemused at this because I have auto admit numbers and I've gotten scholarships to much better schools. Try as I might I can't help but look at this YP as dishonest, stat-centric garbage and it pisses me off that institutions of learning stoop to this garbage.

Re: American U
I don't mean for my first post to come off as snotty as it sounds, because I really like American. I did a semester-long program there during undergrad and loved it. But my numbers should have been pretty damn safe for getting in to AU. I'm already in at higher-ranked schools, so I def be withdrawing...

This was the most blatant incident of Yield Protection I have ever seen. This is actually an entire batch of people with auto admit numbers.

If you really cared about attending, then you shouldn't have withdrawn, and demonstrated your continued interest. Sounds like they made the correct decision!Holly Golightly wrote:Annnnnnnnd withdrawn.

Re: American U
Exactly what would be the negative if that happened? They'd find out I don't appreciate having my application handled in a dishonest fashion? Or they'd see that I'm glad to have the opportunity to enroll at Notre Dame with a half scholarship so that I'm not forced to be subject to ridiculous practices of American?Doodsmack wrote:Statuscheckerssuck and jbrowning: I hope American sees your comments and tells the other schools you have applied to.
Hey man I wish you luck with the rest of your cycle. I'm fine with mine.

Re: American U
I just got WLed with a 165 and a 3.9 from a non-HYP Ivy. I can't think of anything that could have went wrong on my application (especially considering I've been accepted into the T20 with money). Therefore, is it same to assume they yield-protected me as well? Does anybody know how likely it is they'll accept me if I show continued interest?

Waitlisted with 3.3/167. What a joke. I guess it will be BU, BC, or Fordham instead

Fill out their survey and send in an LOCI and I think you should be good.ctn8 wrote:I just got WLed with a 165 and a 3.9 from a non-HYP Ivy.
