This is one of the final four schools I'm considering, but the cost of living is just so freakishly high.

It doesn't look like I'll be getting a scholarship to Miami, but I'm still considering them anyway. It depends partly on whether or not I get accepted to two of the state schools that I've applied to. I like Miami a lot, I think that they are underrated, they have a large alumni base, a great location, a lot of course options, and a top 10 tax law program.

Is anyone else considering Miami even if they don't get a scholarship?

I'm considering equally ranked schools with similar tuition costs, but not miami because of the ridiculous cost of living. With a scholarship, maybe.

The cost of living is high, but I've found decent 1 bedroom apartments for $650 and under. I also have a wife who works as an ASL interpreter, which is in good demand and makes a decent wage. I might go to Miami and let my wife be my scholarship.

I'm still waiting to hear from UNLV and Hawaii before I make my decision.

where did you find this apartment? where is it located? just curious because the more serious i get about miami, the more ive been looking at where good apartments might be at, etc.

I've found the cheaper apartments using craigslist.com, rent.com, apartments.com, yahoo real estate, and some of the local newspapers. Most of them are located in and around kendell, the airport, South Miami and other areas. You'll have to forgive me, I don't completely know the geography of Miami yet.

Man! I really hope I get accepted to Miami. I grew up 15 minutes south of the school. My numbers are WELL BELOW what they normally accept, though. I’m just hoping lightning strikes for me.

They usually send scholarship info separately, about 1-2 weeks after your acceptance.

They didn't take me. At least not yet. Got placed on "hold" GPA is well below their 25th percentile

how did you withdraw? a letter you wrote up? i tried to find out a procedure on their website or they packet they sent and didnt see anything so just mailed in a letter...

I sent an e-mail to admissions@law.miami.edu. They responded moments afterwards confirming their receipt of my withdrawal e-mail.

So as of now, Miami is my top choice (still waiting to hear back from Kent and Case Western) but I have been reading/hearing some negative things about the law school. Specifically things like the post-graduation salaries listed in their viewbook are false and misleading, poor faculty and administrative office, and that employment prospects are very weak. Just wondering if anybody else has come across any of these and does this make an impact on your decision to go there?? I was so excited to go to Miami (its been a nastyyy winter in Chicago!) but now Im feeling a little indifferent...

A couple of weeks after accepted, I received an e-mail and then a separate letter about 5-7 days later with scholarship info.

I got my scholarship offer around two weeks after the acceptance packet.
