UR1 11/20 - UR2 12/26. Does anyone know when the first WL wave was last year?

Hey guys, am in a bit of a dilemma, section 7 asks if you're part of an underrepresent group and if so, then to attach a brief statement. But if I've already addressed the primary impact of this aspect of my background in my personal statement, can I just say that I've done so? Thanks for any advice you guys give

I thought about this for a week and then made the decision to write a statement even though I wasn't planning on it.covfefe wrote:That's pretty much exactly what I did!OhMyLaw wrote:Hey guys, am in a bit of a dilemma, section 7 asks if you're part of an underrepresent group and if so, then to attach a brief statement. Re: NYU c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
I just focused on it in my personal statement. When I started my apps, I was pretty committed to doing diversity statements, etc., but I read that, if your personal statement talked about being underrepresented and its impact enough, you don't necessarily have to do any addenda about it. So far, it seems like it was pretty solid advice because I've gotten into NYU and other T-14 schools without the additional writing.OhMyLaw wrote:Hey guys, am in a bit of a dilemma, section 7 asks if you're part of an underrepresent group and if so, then to attach a brief statement. Do you guys think that because of the surge in high scoring applicants those of us at both medians need to worry?

I think at the very least it means those of us at medians are in for a longer wait than in years past.kiklavan wrote:Do you guys think that because of the surge in high scoring applicants those of us at both medians need to worry?

Also UR2 as of today 12/30. Was UR1 since 11/13. Huge relief.

Re: NYU c/o 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
Is it just me, or are a lot of people going UR2 this week? Could that mean lessened chances of quick UR2 -> DLS?
Also, I neurotically skimmed a large chunk of last year's thread, and it seems like six weeks is almost a standard wait between UR1 and UR2.
Maybe I'm just convincing myself of things to feel like there's some semblance of order to our statuses.
