Looks like they're separate from your sections, more of a social and networking group.
Does your UT roommate seem to like it?
It seems like a really nice idea, especially since it not only connects 1Ls to other 1Ls, but to upperclassmen and faculty as well. Plus, it's a nice way to remind law students to have fun every now and then lol.
It kinda piques my interest in the school more...

So the admitted students page asks for a headshot. Anyone know what it's for?

Got an email from the financial aid office. Thought it was my scholarship offer, but they wanted to let me know they got my fafsa info. Hopefully they'll feel bad about how much I made last year and give me a decent scholly

In the snail mail packet, it said it's for "strictly administrative purposes" like completing your file (whatever that means), class rosters, etc.brinicolec wrote:So the admitted students page asks for a headshot. Anyone know what it's for?

The 5 day expiration is only if awarded after March 27th. This is straight from the reconsideration page:dclaw93 wrote:Wow, good to know!Gitaroo_Dude wrote:Late March at the very end of my cycle. Anyone know if UT tends to help OOSers offset higher tuition by offering better scholly packages? If not, what would be a reasonable amt. of debt to take on here?

You think that's likely for me even though I'm median LSAT, slightly below 25th GPA?dietcoke1 wrote:they tend to offer resident tuition as a scholarship for OOS admits. some exemption that gives you the resident tuition.brinicolec wrote:Anyone know if UT tends to help OOSers offset higher tuition by offering better scholly packages? They give in state tuition waivers! I heard if you didn't get it first year, most students get it their second year.brinicolec wrote:Anyone know if UT tends to help OOSers offset higher tuition by offering better scholly packages? If not, what would be a reasonable amt. of debt to take on here?
As for reasonable amount of debt, I think that's a personal choice? But for me personally I wouldn't go to a school if I had to take over 120k of debt!

To the reasonable amount of debt, I agree it's totally a personal choice. For me, I have like a hierarchy of debt I would take on, based on my preferences and (somewhat) rankings. Like from super safeties, I would expect a full tuition scholarship. From total reach schools, if I got in, I would most likely be willing to pay sticker price. There's no magic number that applies to everyone.Litt1tUp wrote:They give in state tuition waivers! I guess I'm just trying to figure out what is "average" or "normal" for someone with stats like mine. It's kind of a pain because I want a good amt of money but know I might not be able to get that much money because of my GPA.futureellewoods123 wrote:To the reasonable amount of debt, I agree it's totally a personal choice. I'm definitely hoping for the in-state tuition waiver though. That would be amazing.
Edit: When I was under the assumption that I'd be able to get into T14s, I wanted to be around $150k (even that was high) or less. I think now the amount is around $100k (max) but ideally less than six figures lol.

Hey OOS fam, how long after you were solicited for your Why TX did you hear back (including WL and dings)? I feel like a general sense might help ease some tensions
