Seeing games in a 1/4 full Gillette stadium might not be that exciting but damnit soccer is soccer

Thirded. If I get in that is..... Also hoping I can find some soccer to play in beantown. Chicago has a very active soccer community and I'll miss it when I leave.ekg212 wrote:I'll be there with you! same here! living in NYC, I was hesitant about NYCFC games at first b/c of Yankee Stadium, etc., but even when the stadium is half full, it's a blast. ditto on the car business though..ekg212 wrote:I'll be there with you! I'm coming from KS which has a pretty rabid following for their MLS team (relatively) so I hope I can keep that energy up!tuesdayninja wrote:Thirded. If I get in that is..... Could either of you drive us there? Remains to be seen if I'll bring my car up or not.

I do have a car in the city (I already live in Boston). Revs games are awesome. Also, we have a pretty active community for soccer - check out boston social sports and groups like that for leagues of all kinds (plus indoor for off-season).Dodocogon wrote:I'm coming from KS which has a pretty rabid following for their MLS team (relatively) so I hope I can keep that energy up!tuesdayninja wrote:Thirded. Aight, I'll buy the beer if you give me a ride. I am excited to have a team if I go here though; also glad SKC is in the West now so I wouldn't have to cheer against the revs too much...ekg212 wrote: I do have a car in the city (I already live in Boston). Got my offer!
Half-tuition. Kind of disappointing, but I've probably been comparing offers of the like to final offers on LSN and such. Does make it feasible though! Excited to see offers from BC and others and then get to work on getting it up a bit.

Is it better to email or to call when trying to get more money from scholarships?

Re: Boston University C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Got my scholly offer today too! It's a good amount but definitely not enough for me to be able to attend. I already submitted my application for the need based scholarship money a few weeks ago. Does anyone know when that info might come through? I know the deadline is March 1st but...do they send out those awards right away? I might ask if no one is sure.
I was hoping I'd get an offer that was good enough to go "Yep. That's it, I'm going!" But I'll have to do the math out before I decide.
Either way, the amount they offered is a good starting point for negotiations...so, I can't really complain.

Re: Boston University C/O 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
When you say half - do you mean half off just the tuition or half off the total COA? Mine is about half of their projected COA but it's difficult to determine how that will fluctuate every year. Tuition will go up, for sure. But I'm imagining rent and transportation costs will as well.dclaw93 wrote:+1 - also got half-tuition. It's tough because it's a ton of money, don't get me wrong, but when you include rent, utilities, car payment/insurance, and paying off the rest of the tuition...the amount left over that still needs to be paid by loans is insane added up over 3 years. If I managed my UG payment better I would probably be less worried.dclaw93 wrote:Unfortunately I meant half off just the tuitionashrice13 wrote:When you say half - do you mean half off just the tuition or half off the total COA? Almost 5pm EST, anyone else continuing to refresh or does BU typically send schollys in waves?

This. Especially the UG point.
The COL in Boston makes BU - on anything less than almost a full tuition scholarship - a very difficult proposition to swallow.

Also offered just half off of tuition. I also paid a ton for undergrad and am not too thrilled at the prospect of doing the same for law school, especially with a near-full-tuition offer at UGA and phenomenally lower cost of living in Athens. :/

Ugh don't remind me of COL. Boston is just horrendously expensive. Congrats to all the admits on your scholarships, remember you can negotiate!
