Re: George Washington 2015-2016 Applicants
Deposit deadline is approaching and I'm still debating. Ahhhhh, DC is expensive. Even with $93k scholly, I still gotta pay $25k/yr plus cost of living.
On the other hand, GW is the first school that gave me an offer. It's like a first love to me. I feel like a dick to ditch my first love with a semi-generous scholarship money.
To people who's on the waitlist and may eventually get my spot: I'm sorry to keep you waiting, I just can't make up my mind.

Sorry to hear that. To provide another data point, I'm PT and received a surprising email last week offering merit aid after I requested reconsideration.run4fun wrote:Any PT's in at GW with money? My reconsidering request was denied

You're first love is using you. Don't think of it as a generous scholarship think of it as a small discount on a still massive student debt bill. The fact that they were your first acceptance should play 0% in your decision, your numbers just happened to be in range with their desires and some rando in the admissions office (whom you will never meet or interact with in any way if/when you start class) put your file in an earlier batch than another rando in another admissions office did.rachellewrx wrote:Deposit deadline is approaching and I'm still debating. I swear I'm going to go into a meeting with admissions and be like:missie wrote:Ripped off the band aid and withdrew - good luck to those of you still waiting, I hope you get my $$!
"So, do you have any more scholarship money available yet?"
"No, none at this time"

Let me know how that goes. I want to hop on the "I know there's more money available" wagon.BDMPKT wrote:I swear I'm going to go into a meeting with admissions and be like:missie wrote:Ripped off the band aid and withdrew - good luck to those of you still waiting, I hope you get my $$!

Has anyone gotten in off of the waitlist yet or know the general timeline/key dates? I received the general letter from the admissions office today, re: we're going to start pulling from the WL pool now.

Was waitlisted back in mid-January and received an offer via email today. However, I didn't see any mention of a scholarship in the email. Is this their way of telling me that I'm looking at sticker price here, or am I missing something? Also, for those on the waitlist who were asking about timelines, they're asking for the first seat deposit by May 2.

Re: George Washington 2015-2016 Applicants
I was accepted a few days ago of the wait-list with a $20,000 scholarship/yr. I immediately sent in an email trying to negotiate for a bit more aid. I have deadlines coming up so I did not want to waste time. They emailed back within a day saying that I was one of two people they had offered money to in that round of and that I got the larger amount. They said I could expect maybe $5k more a year, but that they wouldn't be able to offer that until after the May 2nd deadline.
I'm really torn. GW is my current top choice, but it's so damn expensive. W&M is offering a $30k/yr scholarship and UIUC a full ride. I withdrew from Indiana and Minnesota since I could care less to work in either market and UIUC offered better prospects for Chicago.
My heart tells me GW, but my wallet says don't do it.
