^ retake, a couple 3 more pts on the lsat would get you big money at t14s.

I got a 167 and URM with a 3.8 GPA. I'm hoping there will be other T-14's that accept me. I don't think I could bear to take the LSAT again and risk getting a lower score. Oh well.canadianbrother wrote:^ retake, a couple 3 more pts on the lsat would get you big money at t14s.

URM, with a 167 and 3.8? This could be a case of YP.frances315 wrote:I got a 167 and URM with a 3.8 GPA. I'm hoping there will be other T-14's that accept me. No C+F issues. Only took the LSAT once. Biology undergrad, working on a Masters in Criminal Justice with a 4.0 GPA. At least we're in this together!Winston1984 wrote:Pretty surprised at this.. Definitely YP, he/she is HYS bound.Dream_weaver32 wrote:URM, with a 167 and 3.8? This could be a case of YP.frances315 wrote:I got a 167 and URM with a 3.8 GPA. I doubt he/she will HYS bound but more likely CCN bound.
If she/ he is AA she / he will be in HYS.

Vehemently disagree-- this is not YP. lc39 is a 3.7 with a much higher LSAT and she got into Duke (MA URM as well).canadianbrother wrote:Definitely YP, he/she is HYS bound.Dream_weaver32 wrote:URM, with a 167 and 3.8? I'd guess it was your essays.

If LSATneurotic doesn't understand YP then I suppose I don't either. I thought that YP happened if a school thought that your numbers would get you into a higher ranked school or a school that you were more likely to attend. Could you explain what I'm missing?xylocarp wrote:I don't think you understand YPLSATneurotic wrote:Vehemently disagree-- this is not YP. lc39 is a 3.7 with a much higher LSAT and she got into Duke (MA URM as well).

just because someone with better numbers than you gets in doesn't mean that you're not getting YPed. that proves nothing. maybe that person wrote a Why X and you didn't. maybe that person is from around the geographical area of the school and you're not. maybe they're a legacy. maybe they visited the school and acted really interested. schools don't just WL anyone with numbers over a certain threshold, that would be absurdfra wrote:If LSATneurotic doesn't understand YP then I suppose I don't either. Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Looks to me like a 50/50 case. YP is easiest to see where applicants within a certain profile basically all get into H, but none/very few get into the YP school. Penn is a great example: Over the past three cycles, for AA's with 3.65-3.85 GPAs and 164-168 LSATs, 8/9 (89%) got into H, while only 1/7 (14%) got into Penn. Shift that a little bit to a 3.4-3.6 and 160-164 AA and H basically disappears as an option (1/11), but Penn gives a far better chance (6/17) than for the better qualified (by numbers) applicant.fra wrote:If LSATneurotic doesn't understand YP then I suppose I don't either.
