By "homework assignments," I'm assuming they just wanted us to do some research, or at least pretend to, and write them a brief response indicating our desire to remain on the wait list. Or are people writing extensive LOCI-like responses?

Oh, the phone call today asking me to do research and respond via email is what I was referring to. My caller had said to "do some homework tonight," which is why I thought that's what people were referring to.

Only that there weren't very many post-WL JS1s, evidently. I'd say they're treating them like JS1bs, but it could just be that I'm optimistic.

Also, I'd say based on very limited evidence that the disparity in information regarding upcoming JS2s, homework deadlines, and hw response promptness all have a lot to do with the interviewers and not the strength of the candidates/interviewees.

holding out faint hope that they're roughly going by interview date. Also, I'm not sure about the recent JS1s, but I'd bet that the peeps who got the call today are getting in very soon. You guys should be excited!

The calls today are a great sign, but you'd agree that they are not textbook JS1b's, right? (JS1b has never been about emailing back in 24 hours according to my reading.)

Last year there were two rounds of Post-WL JS1s and then a couple more random ones after those two rounds. It wouldn't be unprecedented but I'm slowly losing hope.

I actually was not even asked to provide an e-mail confirmation, probably because I made it clear that I did not deposit anywhere and will try again if I do not get in this cycle. I guess the interviewer knew that asking for a confirmation would just be redundant.

Eeeeee I haven't checked in for a while because work has been positively insane, but I also got the call today asking me to email them regarding my intent. I was very surprised and confused by it, so naturally I rushed here to figure out what was going on. Fingers are crossed and good luck to everybody!
