I've been accepted to BU with a 35,000/year scholarship, I know I'm going to attend no matter what, but I was wondering if it's worth it to try and negotiate for a full ride? I have full-tuition at other schools, many higher ranked, although none in the Boston area.

Also, excuse me if this is an obvious question, but do people still negotiate scholarships after they've put their initial seat deposit in? Or would I have to do all of this before the 4/15 deadline?

I would definitely try to negotiate if you're getting better scholarships from higher ranked schools. Just state in your request the BU is your top choice but you are finding it difficult to justify the financial commitment. and attach the higher offer scholarship from the comparable school. I'm not sure how negotiating works post deposit, though I know schools do apparently negotiate. Just tell them you are going to multi-deposit

I already deposited and I was thinking about emailing for more scholarship money after 4/15. I have offers from other schools on hand and was going to talk about costs of living in Boston vs. my home state. But I just got into BC. I doubt they're going to give me a better scholarship though so I don't know if I'll double deposit there. Still...

In my negotiation email for more scholarship, should I mention that I got into BC? I thought maybe BU would get nervous that I might go there and increase the money to lure me back (even though I'm supposedly already committed by depositing ugh) OR this could backfire, BU would not care if I go to BC.

I'm really confused right now so any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm kinda confused about BU...My stats seem decent enough or at least more than high enough for BU, (169 LSAT and 3.5 GPA), but still haven't heard from them at all since going "complete" on 1/21... I submitted on like the end of Dec, which I understand was pretty late, but I got back from (almost) every other schools, save NYU...
Anyone know if BU is notorious for usually being slow in turning out decisions?? Or perhaps they just forgot about me? Lol

I don't think their decisions are notoriously slow, but with deposits coming up they may have already given a bunch of acceptances with the stats they wanted/needed. Since your gpa is below their median, even with a lsat above their 75th, you can't truly predict how good of a position you're in. So I think you'll just have to keep on waiting. Gluck!

Admission packet came today but no $$...got decent money from a slightly higher ranked school, but they're completely different regions, so I doubt negotiating is an option.

Hmm kk thanks. I actually already got into Cornell, but wanted to see if i fet into BU and how much they will give me, to use it as a leverage before attempting at negotiation with Cornell.. but I gave up and just sent in my negotiation letter using other school I had on the table..

I gotta say though, I am very disappointed with But in their utter lack of communication on their part... all other schools except for nyu (another notoriously slow school), including ones I have applied even 2weeks later than But have all rendered decisions, whether it be WL, Ding, or acceptance...

In via phone call yesterday, 3 hours after first calling them to see when I might get a decision.

166, 3.5, applied middle of january.

$15,000/yr in merit and alumni scholarships came in the email today. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

I'm 169/3.5 and still waiting since UR 1/21...Submitted in end of Dec, so idk why it's taking so long...I would be pissed if I was to be dinged after 4 months of waiting....

Waitlisted on 4/15, was told that within the next few weeks correspondence would be sent out to those on the WL just to be in touch. Haven't heard anything yet though.

Hey guys, just got an unsolicited scholarship increase and extension to may 1st for deposit deadlines. I bet they did that for a lot of people to try to get some last minute offers on the table. I would imagine for you waitlisters, they'll probably start giving you more information about a week after the final, may 1st, deadline passes and they know who is actually withdrawing.
