Did you receive the financial aid email a couple of days ago?

I guess peoples questions got answered. But yeah I'm in the US. The scholarship info was in the scanned acceptance letter that had a nice hand written note at the bottom. There was also an invitation to the ASD, which I'm guessing is the reason for the switch to emails so that we would have more time to plan to attend. Congrats to everyone else who got in today.

You must have very strong softs.

Is it true that Emory values GPA rather heavily? That seems to be the impression I am getting from viewing these scholarship offers.

I got a 25k/yr scholarship with a GPA under 3.0 so I'm leaning towards no

This post count doesn't come from posting only in the WUSTL thread :P

I am everywhere... because I applied to nearly 20 schools :)

EDIT: will be withdrawing my app shortly after negotiating.

Congrats. So you gonna deposit to Texas, or is Emory looking good to you?
Texas is still my number one. But I'm continually keeping my options open, and I post when a decision is made to help others out. Perhaps I should just start dropping a link to my lsn profile everywhere.

Sorry for just kind of calling you out on that, by the way. I've gotten a little Texas gung-ho after depositing :P

That's how I feel, kind of. I'm kind of keeping my options open.

It's fine, I'll probably feel the same way once I deposit.

It's not a sure thing that I'm not going to Emory. Best of luck though. I'll certainly be withdrawing from schools the moment the dust settles on my scholly negotiations. I should be getting on that btw.

That number is going to increase and be close to 20% when LST updates its data. The new employment statistics for the class of 2013 came out and they are worse than last year.

I'm heavily considering Emory and WUSTL at this point, should I be concerned about this?

Where are you seeing the large drop?

You have to consider that the number of graduates grew 10%. You have to look at percentage of graduating class rather than the raw numbers.

Emory-funded in 2012: 13.9%
Emory-funded in 2013: 23.2%
But the vast majority (91%) of 2013 positions are full-time, while only 46% of 2012 positions are.

Some other categories using the same analysis:

BigLaw in 2012: 22.5%
BigLaw in 2013: 20.1%

Business in 2012: 7.5%
Business in 2013: 13.7%

Government in 2012: 6.7%
Government in 2013: 14.3%

Clerkships in 2012: 9.7%
Clerkships in 2013: 8.2%

Can someone who is more familiar with the legal employment field provide some context for those statistics, particularly business and government? But in general it seems as if there hasn't been a precipitous drop in employment.

So... what you're saying are desirable jobs are decreasing and school funded positions are increasing?
