Dean Ingram said 4 weeks or else prob no schollie. They seem to be much more based on negotiations this year than giving good initial offers.anubis1911 wrote:How long should I wait for scholly info if I was accepted in Early Jan?

That link is the same as it was last year.Attax wrote:Dean Ingram said 4 weeks or else prob no schollie. They seem to be much more based on negotiations this year than giving good initial offers.anubis1911 wrote:How long should I wait for scholly info if I was accepted in Early Jan?

She told us that she's not particularly fond of negotiating and definitely doesn't want to be a pawn in the game so that you can increase your scholarship at another school. She also said that she wants to help future Longhorns, and I think that's true. If you sincerely want to attend UT then be patient, acquire other offers, and email them in a couple months and see what you can work out.

They said they changed finaid policies this year though, and she seems very open to negotiating this year, at least through my communications with them. I really want to attend, so that may be why. I think they don't wan tto be used against others which is why they have this one-time-match policy.BigZuck wrote:That link is the same as it was last year.Attax wrote:Dean Ingram said 4 weeks or else prob no schollie. Just FYI- I know people who went to them twice and got two bumps, so the "One shot only" thing when it comes to scholarship negotiations is not neccessarily true.Attax wrote:They said they changed finaid policies this year though, and she seems very open to negotiating this year, at least through my communications with them. Re: Texas c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
There don't seem to be many offers according to LSN, but who knows if that's just a matter of people not reporting. I'd be interested to know if they're relying mainly on their matching program rather than initial offers plus the matching program.
Also, does the scholarship matching program leave room to write any of your reasons (example: UT is my #1, I want to attend for X,Y,Z) or is it only a place to input $ from other schools?

I wrote a one page letter saying why I wanted to go to UT, money was a consideration, blah, blah, then listed my other offers at the bottom.cannibal ox wrote:There don't seem to be many offers according to LSN, but who knows if that's just a matter of people not reporting. Just got the call
Dean said a lot of the acceptance calls that were supposed to be done Friday (but couldn't be done because of weather) are being done today. Good luck everyone!

I applied via LSAC on 1/6 (transmitted 1/7) and haven't received any communication from UT admissions. When did people usually hear back with confirmation, status website, etc?
Thanks everyone!

Confirmation + status checker seems to be on a 1-2 week window for people who applied late december/super early January.2BJD2017 wrote:I applied via LSAC on 1/6 (transmitted 1/7) and haven't received any communication from UT admissions. The status checkers is pointless, however.

Have you not gotten an "Application Received" message from them? I applied 1/1, got that "Received" email on 1/6, but didn't get a status checker until 1/17.2BJD2017 wrote:I applied via LSAC on 1/6 (transmitted 1/7) and haven't received any communication from UT admissions. Maybe, maybe not. I suspect there are folks in the office because they didn't announce the delayed start until 8:20, after folks generally head to work. They also didn't announce the closure for the day until 11:20 (the delayed start was scheduled for 12). I was on my way to campus and almost went anyway.Attax wrote:Don't expect much, we are on late start after a weather delay.

Yeah. I was on campus when they called the delayed start. Was kind of pissed, but now glad I didn't decide to just stay.BVest wrote:Maybe, maybe not. And Dean Ingram said on facebook:
We're closing for the second day in a week due to our wintry mess. I apologize for the inconvenience. We should resume regular business tomorrow. North and Midwesterners, "snow days" are in your future.
So I wouldn't expect anything.

Fair enough. Didn't know they had a page for applicants.Attax wrote: And Dean Ingram said on facebook:

Yep. Granted I was pretty upset they didn't delay earlier. I walked maybe 100 feet from my car, yet nearly slipped to my death at least 8 times.BVest wrote:Fair enough. Didn't know they had a page for applicants.Attax wrote: And Dean Ingram said on facebook:

LSAT- right at 25%
GPA- >75%
Been complete and under review since October 11. Texas resident. Haven't been dinged yet. Assuming that's a good sign?

Re: Texas c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
They may be holding to see how the class turns out. Probably a good thing, it seems that they ding once you are below 167 pretty independently of GPA so far, unless URM. Meaning you aren't ding worthy, but I think they're trying to up the LSAT median and then will work on GPA after that. I would take lack of a ding as a good sign at this point considering this graph.abolin wrote:LSAT- right at 25%

Good luck! Plus as a TX resident here I submitted 11/30 and was accepted on 12/17.
To build upon it, I drew a mental trend line through the previous data (not linear, more evident of exponential decay really) and the following data from last year's admissions gave me the following numbers for a certain "autoadmittance" as in nearly everyone at this X LSAT and above the GPA indicated were admitted. There are some outliers (and of course many below), but it is more of a way to gauge from last year. However, so far for this year, it seems as if 167+ is in, and that below 167 GPA is mostly irrelevant so far. I'd take that as a sign that reverse splitters who are being held will have a better chance later on.
GPA LSAT
3.83 163
3.8 164
3.75 165
3.7 166
3.64 167
3.4 168
3.3 169
any 170
