I was approved for $75, to offset transportation costs of $120 and lodging of ~600. But I think the reimbursement is just based on how far away you come from.gertie wrote:Were you approved for the full amount that you requested or paid for your transportation?callmemaybe84 wrote:You're fine. I totally forgot to mail mine out yesterday, which would have been the deadline.

I believe it's a scale depending on how far you travel, up to $200 (for >1200 miles).gertie wrote:Were you approved for the full amount that you requested or paid for your transportation?callmemaybe84 wrote:You're fine. Miles based on one-way:
<150 - up to $50
<350 - up to $75
<1200 - up to $150
>1201 - up to $200

Anyone bring a parent to March ASW? Just realized parents aren't invited to the dinners and various other events. Is this strict? I kind of feel bad leaving my mom alone for 5-9 hours each day. Were they given other things to do?

Definitely recommend going to dinner with the Journal of Law and Technology if you're into that sort of thing, they're really fun and helpful.wert3813 wrote:Finish this sentence:

And I second what someone said about getting there early for lunch popular profs. I went to the clinic panel so by the time I got to lunch Lessig was already 100%. I ended up sitting with a guy from the Berkman Center who was really cool though so it worked out.

I don't think they care too much about who's at the events, particularly not the big lectures. It was pretty relaxed, and there was plenty of room, at the March ASW talks. Maybe just don't bring her to the dinner with the student groups (since they're on a budget) and the lunch with faculty (because some tables fill up).Searchparty wrote:Anyone bring a parent to March ASW? Also, there's a lot to do around Cambridge/Boston--my parents came with me in March but they spent most of the time hanging out in the city.

Maybe this is obvious, but if you're still undecided, feel free to ask questions of anyone involved in ASW/any faculty member you see. I learned a lot more from talking to the student volunteers and professors than I did from any of the events, and everyone was really helpful. They'll push Harvard really hard, of course, but they'll also be frank about any potential problems (especially the students).wert3813 wrote:Finish this sentence:

Did anyone else receive a book with a personal note inside the cover? It may be unreasonable to assume they actually care as much as it seems they do from this small gesture, but I was pretty touched.

Cool, sounds different. (ASW book is about life in Boston, basically.) Hopefully it's on the way! I love books about negotiationsread2465 wrote:I don't know what they gave at the March ASW, but this was on negotiations.trojandave wrote:What kind of book? Not at all. Mine was 13-14 minutes. There is a large range among admitted applicants.
