Does anyone else not understand the statement about Arizona State?

He's providing an anecdote describing a small error that is somewhat similar to the one he/his office made in the mass email. He is demonstrating that one needs to make sure not to incur overly harsh judgement on another simply because they made a minor mistake. I am sure he put the phrase "Arizona State" in quotation marks to not risk giving specific information that the applicant placed in her PS.teiswei wrote:Does anyone else not understand the statement about Arizona State?

Re: Emory class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
Ahh I get it... It was a PS... I think the "essay" part threw me off and made me think it was outside of the formal application (I guess I was thinking a withdrawal). I just kept reading "Arizona State" and was trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Thanks for the clarification!JXander wrote:He's providing an anecdote describing a small error that is somewhat similar to the one he/his office made in the mass email. When I got the "FNAME" email, I thought for sure it was my ding notification. Totally messed with my head for a minute.
Also, I wonder why some people got this email and others did not....I'm completely over analyzing now....ugh!
Complete: mid-January

Same. After reading his former post when I saw the e-mail I was convinced it a rejection notice. But I was complete in mid Dec so hopefully I will hear something soon.gameface wrote:When I got the "FNAME" email, I thought for sure it was my ding notification. In via email (acceptance letter attchment) with scholarship. Hard-copy letter and viewbook are en route.
I'm guessing they're emailing now since deadlines are approaching? Makes sense.

I'll bolster my scholly resume from some of their peers and give them a do or die ultimatum a week before seat depositscusenation wrote:Apparently they don't negotiate...even though I still think that they willTheThriller wrote:Any luck on negotiating scholly with Emory?

Re: Emory class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
reposting this post from the WUSTL thread because I love you guys and Emory has a baller endowment.
A primitive infographic: T20/30 Endowment in 2012 dollars
Notre Dame: 6.330 billion
.
.
Emory: 5.461 billion
WUSTL: 5.226 billion
.
.
.
.
University of Southern California: 3.489 billion
Vanderbilt: 3.399 billion
.
.
Minnesota: 2.494 billion
University of Washington: 2.111 billion
.
.
Boston College: 1.646 billion
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign: 1.6 billion
George Washington: 1.306 billion
Washington & Lee: 1.218 billion
Boston University: 1.104 billion
.
.
Fordham University: 511 million
And I think I discovered why American charges a $900 deposit fee and is handing out shitty scholly...
American University: 455 million

Re: Emory class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
with an endowment like that, they should be throwing me more money.
But Emory, I am impressed, you're well endowed.

Re: Emory class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
Oh and also, the numbers were for universities, not individual law schools within those universities...But I thought the university endowments were interesting because it gives some insight into the dynamic between the law school and university-at-large as far as revenue contributions. (Since law schools are the unofficial cash cows for these universities) For example...GW, GULC, and American are all comparatively broke as HELL. Could explain their large class sizes and stingy scholly hand-outs
The most updated endowment numbers I can find online for law schools are the Leiter numbers

No surprise here. We are talking about the school that Coca Cola built.
I admit, I am not in the 75th percentile as far as my LSAT goes, but still I feel that they are offering me a very generous scholarship given my numbers and not being a URM. Still, the tuition is expensive, and I'm having a hard time giving into it. I probably will in the long run.

Re: Emory class of 2016 (2012-2013 cycle)
My acceptances have been pretty much in line with what people with my numbers have historically expected but my scholarships have been 10-60K higher than predicted on mylsn.info2012Lsatscore wrote:Man, what's the secret?? My cycle has been as clear cut as it can be. Above both medians-in with typical money amount. Below at least one median-WL.sublime12089 wrote:JXander wrote:I have been literally thinking the exact same thing. +1 to each sentence above!LittleBlueBird wrote:I admit, I am not in the 75th percentile as far as my LSAT goes, but still I feel that they are offering me a very generous scholarship given my numbers and not being a URM. This cycle is nuts. I have gotten substantial offers from schools that I am below median in both, and probably would not have been able to get into at full price 2 years ago.
I do think the true epicness of this cycle will be later when it comes time for waitlist movement and scholarships being given to splitters off the waitlist to secure medians.
