Knock on wood, I think my numbers are pretty goo (surrounded by green dots on LSN) and I haven't heard back yet. Seems like they haven't done anything this week, though, so maybe we're just in line.

I see you both have taken the Pokemon strategy when it comes to T14 admissions. Gotta catch em all! And complain in every thread until you do... Good luck bros, pulling for both of you to get into every last school(s) of your dreams!shntn wrote:Solidarity, brother.WhiteyCakes wrote:Is anyone else with good numbers for UM getting shunned out of the acceptance party?

Big Zuck just speaks the truth on these threads. Amen.BigZuck wrote:I see you both have taken the Pokemon strategy when it comes to T14 admissions. Gotta catch em all! To the above posters: Listen, I know you are genuinely nervous about this. I do not doubt the truth behind what you are posting. However, it is clear from reading these threads that neither of you will attend this school. There are real people out there for whom a Michigan, a Berkeley, Duke, Georgetown, or a UVA, etc, is a dream school, and they would kill to get in. Your genuine, yet hollow, public nervousness serves little purpose here. It certainly should garner no sympathy. You both seem like very nice people who are in this for the right reasons, it just seems very hollow in a forum where people's dreams get crushed often.
Again, thanks Big Zuck. Good to have you patrolling for BS.

Uh, shntn's a great person and all, but that GPA makes getting a T6 possible but not guaranteed. And just because you CAN get into NYU or Columbia doesn't mean you want to graduate with $250k in debt.
I'm also someone who would be EXTREMELY lucky to get Michigan (171/2.7) but keep in mind that they're also below Michigan's 25th percentile GPA.

To be fair, this thread serves the same purpose whether Michigan is a giant reach school or a school one would consider attending only with a generous scholarship. If you want a thread that consists solely of content specific to applications, with no airing of anxieties, nerves, or frustrations, I think this is neither the thread nor the website for you.

As someone who fits the description above, and who has numbers somewhat below both of them, I really appreciate the fact that we're in the same boat. Knowing that people who are more qualified than I are still waiting gives me some peace of mind that there could still just be a batch of apps waiting to be looked at. If you can't express nervousness on a forum (within reason, i.e. not repeatedly in a short period of time) then there's no point.moneyball026 wrote:Big Zuck just speaks the truth on these threads. Sorry I angered you Sunny, wasn't my intention.
I guess for me I just saw people as sweating out getting into worse schools than they have already been/will be accepted to as insincere. Because why would anyone who is familiar with LSN actually worry when they are swimming in a sea of green and they have been accepted to schools with higher standards in the same cycle already? And then people complain about needless bumps but the same people continuously moan and groan with a "will today be the day!?!?!" posts for schools that I assume they would only use as scholarship negotiation pawns at best. Guess I'm wrong about all that. I'm probably also projecting on other people because while I pretty much blanketed the top 20 for a number of reasons but I only have a few real targets. A lot of people probably are a lot more wide open and actually want to go to every school they applied to.
Sorry guys!

Re: Michigan (AKA Hogwarts) c/o 2016 Applicants Thread 2012-2013
There's no sea of green for Michigan if you look at last years graph. Plenty of people with great numbers get waitlisted, and in fact if you look at last year's thread you had a similar situation - people with T6 numbers getting passed over, month after month. This could be a form of yield protection or it could be something else. Either way, its certainly a cause for concern if you have good numbers and you want to get in (whether its to actually attend or just for negotiation purposes).BigZuck wrote:Sorry I angered you Sunny, wasn't my intention.

I can't go anywhere at sticker, but thanks. The BigZuck creed: "No posting if it isn't an acceptance. If it is an acceptance, you may post, but you may not show emotion"BigZuck wrote:I'm sure you'll stack up quite nicely at ChicagoWhiteyCakes wrote:I feel like Zuck is a bit sensitive these days....just trying to see where I stack upYou'll actually pass up NYU to attend, which is where Shinton will end up (with $$$$ in fact!). I'd amend that to "Read the thread if you have a question. Don't post something if it is insincere. And don't ask people if you should attend a better school that you haven't even been accepted to yet when people are jubilant over a recent acceptance and/or grieving after getting rejected."
