do other RDs get the distinct impression when going through the forums that we are being punished for not applying ED?

Yes! I'd feel frustrated if I were still waiting, but there are almost certainly more ED applicants who will get in, particularly since admissions got a little bit of a late start today.

OK. Mine is 11/21 and I don't know if that means I should freak out more or less.Swimp wrote:I think it was 11/21. Definitely something around there.francesfarmer wrote:People who went DLS yesterday: what was your last UR date?

I also just logged into the ASW, so admissions people are in and doing whatever mysterious things they do! Good luck to everybody who's still waiting. I hope they send some more letters today.

Since I have nothing else to do but wait and hope, I looked at the tiny sample for ED apps last year on LSN. Here's my simplified takeaway, if anyone is interested in the results breakdown:
172+ LSAT: any GPA will do, so long as it isn't too low (so above 3.3, perhaps).
171: a GPA above 25th percentile will do the trick.
169-70: a GPA above the 75th is seemingly needed.
People with those LSATs who didn't meet the GPA conditions were waitlisted, and people with LSATs below 169 were either outright denied or waitlisted with a high enough GPA.
This doesn't bode well for me if the standards haven't changed, but I'm still trying to be optimistic that NYU will be crushed by a down cycle and forced to accept me.

Re: NYU C/O 2016 Applicants Thread!!! (Woooooo!!!!!)
I have been feeling really optimistic this whole time because I'm 172/3.4, but I'm actually 170/172/3.38 and I'm freaking out about it now. Not that it actually makes a difference even though NYU claims to average LSAT scores. I can't imagine them caring about my 170 from three years ago this cycle.02889 wrote:+1francesfarmer wrote:OK. Edit: This cycle will be a unique one, no doubt, so don't lose hope.

I had a 166 from 09, so I don't think you should be overly worried, though my GPA was a little higher than yours.francesfarmer wrote: +1

I'm 178/3.18 and applied ED, hoping some adcom employee throws me a bone. Last status change was 11/26 under review. I am optimistic I would get in off the waitlist, but really hoping to have this whole process finished before then. I was hoping to get some good news yesterday, but no luck. Now settling in for another day of anxiously jamming the refresh button. Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to everyone still waiting.

Thanks for the encouragement. Wasn't your LSAT also higher? But I guess as long as its above their probable new median of 171 it doesn't matter.Swimp wrote:I had a 166 from 09, so I don't think you should be overly worried, though my GPA was a little higher than yours.

Ah, thanks! I'm hoping to have the same luck, despite a lower GPA.francesfarmer wrote:More encouragement for you, 02889: my friend got in ED last year with a 3.7x (almost 3.and a 170. You should totally get in!!!

Oh, good. So I'll just assume I haven't been admitted yet because my last name comes at the end of the alphabet.Swimp wrote:No, my second LSAT was the same as yours.francesfarmer wrote:Thanks for the encouragement. Is this in regard to ED applicants or all?

Yeah, just ED. I don't know if trends would be as clear for RD. Though if so, they'd probably be more legitimate since the ED sample size is like 10 people.bobr wrote:First of all, thanks for figuring this out!
