Seat deposit is due in less than 2 weeks. Is it safe to assume that no response means a waitlist or a rejection?? Do they offer acceptances past the deadline?

i know that there were a lot of people who said they were either interviewed for scale/scholarship (including myself), but i was wondering if anyone who was interviewed called the admissions office to ask when scholarships would be determined since the deadline is coming up rather quickly

I'll probably call today/tomorrow. I talked to someone who received a scholarship and it was back in January that it was awarded to them. I'm not too optimistic about getting one anymore.ballboy899 wrote:i know that there were a lot of people who said they were either interviewed for scale/scholarship (including myself), but i was wondering if anyone who was interviewed called the admissions office to ask when scholarships would be determined since the deadline is coming up rather quickly

Yeah I feel the same way..I forget who I sent an email a couple months ago, but they said to email them back in a few weeks if I hadn't heard anything regarding one. So I did, but never got an answer. I finally heard back from someone about 2 weeks ago saying that they were "preparing a response for me." I kind of took that as they haven't made final decisions on scholarships because it has been 2 weeks since then and I'm sure it doesn't take long to write an email back saying that I haven't been awarded one lolzla2014 wrote:I'll probably call today/tomorrow. Yeah I think they are not giving out many scholarships or something. I was pretty excited about scale but got a scholarship to San Diego...
I dunno - maybe I am a vain ass but I truly thought I would be getting something from Southwestern. I am not willing to go there for sticker when better schools are giving me options. Maybe they just do not give out Scale scholarships?

Re: Southwestern 2011
I believe they started the review process in late December, so someone who applied in November can end up waiting as long as someone who applied in early January? Either way, I'd really like a response before the 3/15 deposit deadline...ballboy899 wrote:better than me..ive been complete since 11/19 and nothingzla2014 wrote:I may be in the same situation soon, but haven't even heard back from USD yet. So I had my interview today, it went terrible. They told me the SCALE program is not for me, and that maybe I should apply for part time. I don't want to do a part time program AT ALL. I'm supposed to send another letter of recommendation, and another write up to them. This is difficult, I drove to SW in traffic and rain just to get my heart ripped out..terrible.

2.8 In JC
3.2 at my University
I had a 2.7 in Fall and they were upset about it, but i have an incomplete from that semester, one that will be an A and boost me back up to 3.0
I don't know..honestly I'm deflated.

What were some things they told you, if you don't mind me asking. I'm just really curious because when I had my SCALE interview it just basically seemed like everyone who had the interview would be picked, because it wasnt really an "interview." more like just talking about the programOblivion_08 wrote:2.8 In JC

Re: Southwestern 2011
Unless you have a high LSAT to offset your lower GPA then I'm not surprised they didn't want you for SCALE. After all, it is a 2 year accelerated program that is faster paced and more intense than the traditional day classes. Unless you excelled as an undergraduate, they'd be pretty reckless to admit you into such a program.Oblivion_08 wrote:Mine was not a SCALE interview, mine was telling me i'm not for SCALE.

so you're still being considered for PT right now? And you want to change your consideration to FT before your decision?Oblivion_08 wrote:I want to be a student at Southwestern law next year, I was told id be considered more for a PT but I want a FT. Im now being considered for FT but I was advised to just choose PT. I rather not do SCALE I guess..I just want to be FT.
And if I do get in with PT would it be better if I went to SW as a PT or Whittier/Thomas Jeffferson/Western State as a FT?

Re: Southwestern 2011
I think all schools at this level are all the same personally. Only do SW if you can't imagine working anywhere else but LA. I'm sure you can transfer into FT after a semester or two if you have good enough grades. What I don't understand is why they would call you in for a SCALE "interview" and just straight out tell you you're not qualified and suggest pursuing a different route. Not sure what they're trying to accomplish there, but at least they are concerned enough to want to address that to you personally.Oblivion_08 wrote:Im now being considered for FT but I was advised to just choose PT. In other news, doesn't seem to look good for those holding out for a scholly. Inside source implied that all funds were dried up. I think it is true they do not give out schollys in an amount less than half tuition. So unless you are qualified for at least half tuition, you may be out of luck. Their scholarship standards are ultra strict and it is to my understanding they only offer them to those that they think will 99% matriculate and have a demonstrated commitment to the greater LA area. LSN is really not representative of what is actually going on right now cause even though they are "slow" it seems they are almost done with the cycle. At ASD, they seemed pretty adamant about meeting the deposit deadline and implied no extension, so it must be somewhat true.

When yahwey himself tells you your not getting a southwestern scholly its time to look for san diego apartments.

lol. Those are just my insights based on what I heard. I would at least try to ask about one before pursuing other options.dtl wrote:When yahwey himself tells you your not getting a southwestern scholly its time to look for san diego apartments.

It was just an interview I guess..I got 10,000 per year to TJSL and Western State. Honestly does it matter. Would it be better if I did an FT at TJ or. PT at SW?

If you want to practice in LA southwestern part time will take you much further. In all honesty it might take you much further even if you end up in San Diego.
