I couldn't make it to the ASD today sadly. For those of you who did, what were your thoughts? Did it help make up your minds about attending UH? Was there anything enlightening that current students told you about?

When did your file go in review? When did you apply?bigghen05 wrote:I just got waitlisted at UH. I don't think my chances of getting waitlisted will get me in at UH. I really want to go to UH but I guess I have to settle for LSU.

I was sad to see that the estimated cost (including everything, housing, etc.) was like 120,000 or something. I think people don't realize how high the tuition is climbing. It's no SMU or anything but dang!Josh the Goat wrote:The law center is on the south-east side of campus, somewhat further away from the third ward than the other resident dorms are located. Still, I would not be walking around late on a weekend night on the north side of campus.
Ask about anticipated tuition increases. Chances are you guys are going to face some substantial hikes with all the education cuts going on in the state legislature. 1L's tuition went up nearly 20% last year alone. I'd imagine they're going to pull something similar on you nearly every year until you graduate.

Who's planning on waiting out the waitlist? If so, sent in any new materials?

Looking at their tuition fees, it looks like 1L's paid a different price than returning students. Is this normal for U of H? What determines what price each class pays?

Has anyone sent multiple LOCIs? I sent one via regular mail a few weeks ago, and I was considering sending an email update that I'm still very interested in attending...

I was told that we should not send more than one LOCI, but should instead just send updates. I'm about to send my LOCI and don't know if I should wait until after the April 15 deadline for accepted students. That way it'd be more recent.upfish wrote:Has anyone sent multiple LOCIs? How long do you think is a good wait after sending the loci for an update?i<3ny wrote:I was told that we should not send more than one LOCI, but should instead just send updates. +1 Also, what is the format for this? Like "Hey, still thinkin' about you, UH. So, you know, hit me up." or am I supposed to have somehow accomplished something awesome since the LOCI?AdlTX4 wrote:How long do you think is a good wait after sending the loci for an update?i<3ny wrote:I was told that we should not send more than one LOCI, but should instead just send updates. Well, the general idea is not to contact them more than once a month. So I guess a LOCI and then maybe a short email saying "Hi. I'm still alive... waiting by the phone every day... and checking my email 50 times every hour."upfish wrote:+1 Also, what is the format for this? Like "Hey, still thinkin' about you, UH. Hey everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster here. For those of you on the waitlist, my waitlist decision letter was mailed on 02/10/11, and I received an email on 03/11/11 congratulating me on my admission to the law school, so they have already admitted students from the waitlist just FYI

Also, I have a general question:
My Step-Mom knows alum of U of H law--she had one of them(I assume well known although I have no idea) write a LoR for me a week ago without consulting me about it! Do you think this would be frowned upon by admissions? I mean, how strong could her recommendation be if she doesn't even know me?
